Range Impact and Dealership Honesty

I'd give 5 stars if EPA range was honest. I work in the car industry now so I get how it's listed but it needs to be listed similar to how it's done with MPG. Highway and city range. Regular customers are being lied to by dealerships saying 300 miles is the exact range no matter the conditions. Battery conditioning impacts the range significantly as well. Which steers customers away from EVs. I've helped sell multiple at my dealership because I'm honest with the customers and they respect that. Should be training employees and the standard should be honesty. Paint is another issue but that's been known for years. Other than that, overall really nice vehicle. I genuinely enjoy the ride, comfort, quality, and space. Charging speed was the main reason I went with it. Most EVs are still on 400v so it was a no brainer to go with something with 800v. If the range estimation is fixed accordingly then I'd probably feel inclined to rate 5 stars.

Electrical problems

First year of usage the ICCU unit needed replacement. 2nd year twice left stranded with no electricity in the car whatsover. Twice towed finally battery replaced.

Great tech and styling. Mediocre build quality and reliability.

The whole reason I buy a NEW car is for RELIABILITY. I should NEVER be stranded on the side of the road in a dead 2 year old car. This was even worse. With the ICCU failure, the car suddenly bricked in the middle of the street (thankfully I wasn't on the highway). Without any power, I couldn't even put the car in NEUTRAL to push the car to the side of the road or turn on the hazard lights to warn people approaching at full speed to drive around my DEAD car. Unacceptable. They need to figure out a way for the hazard lights to work and the car to be able to be put in neutral when there is no electrical power. I had other minor build quality issues that made the car feel cheap to me. Still, I love the battery range 300 miles and the tech features like radar cruise control in stop-and-go traffic on LA freeways.

Other than the ICCU thing, I love this car

I gave the car five stars despite the fact that the ICCU has failed twice, in the hope that I can trust assurances that the problem has been fixed. I love everything else about the car: its range, handling, and comfort.

Excellent vehicle except for charging.

The car is great. I’m disappointed with the charging that is apparently limited to 6.8kW AC. The service at my local dealer is also sub-par.

Great vechile overall

The Ioniq 5 has been a great vechile overall. But there are a few technology items that could use work. The door handles do not always lock when touched after closing. The usb ports have issues. The charging door out button does not always work. And charging at times can go into alarm. Software needs to be worked on and updated faster.

Poor Battery Life - Not a Great Driving Experience

First and foremost, the battery life is terrible. I lost almost 75 miles in charge life since owning the car. Also, the car handles like a go-cart. Not a great ride either. You have work to do on this model.

Overall happy

Love the car. Did have problems with ICCU which was covered under warranty but Hyundai took over 2 months to fix and had very poor communication regarding updates.

Never going back to gas!

We like this car so much we traded in our second car for another in the Ioniq line. Great performance, fun to drive, great range on the battery. The second row is the most spacious among all two row electric vehicles we tested—room for all three kids including two booster seats. Spacious trunk. My wife and I fight over who gets to drive it. Minor issues: Infrequent ICCU home charging issues, first addressed with a software update, then it died entirely and had to be replaced. Also had some issues with the 12 volt battery dying. All covered by Hyundai warranty.
