I moved from a Tesla Model Y to my IONIQ 5 and have no regrets!

In early 2025 my wife told me she would never again ride in my Tesla Y, which would make my life kind of difficult. I started searching for another EV and a friend let me drive his IONIQ 5. I was impressed by the power, the comfort of the ride and the roominess of the interior. I also like the fact there are physical buttons for volume and temperature control. You don't have to call up a screen to make adjustments! Unlike the Tesla I'm able to use Apple CarPlay, which I really missed having. There are a few minor annoyances: 1) There is no onboard video recording system, which is really important and makes no sense because the cameras are already there. Fortunately there are some good aftermarket systems. 2) You have to adjust regenerative control with each drive– you can't set it up in the driver profile. 3) And there is no "walk away" locking mechanism. When you park the car and walk away the door handles remain in the "open" position advertising the car is unlocked. You MUST remember to lock the car with the remote every time! At least the Hyundai app will nag you later to lock the doors remotely. By the way, the review template requires input for "reliability." I've only had the car for two months!

Love my car

I have no complaints expect the parasitic drain and the iccu. Everything else about it is impeccable. I would not drive any other EV. I think the ICcU problem should be fixed and I think the Tesla adapter should come more quickly.

Best car I ever had

Wins everything: confort, range, Technology, charges fast, looks good, so smooth. The color is something! It depends the angle the color looks green or gray. The whole glass roof is very nice too. It moves out of tight parking spaces. Like c'mon.

Great style and performance from 24 Ioniq 5 Ltd

Love the car we leased 14 months ago. It’s very comfortable to travel in on long or short trips. We have put 15k miles on it in 14 months. Like the style and function of the car. However, for the price it would be nice to have more automatic personalize settings. I also own an Acura that stickered less than 1k difference than the Ioniq 5 and with personalized key fobs it set all settings and features for you when you open the door. My advice to Hyundai is if price is to remain as high as it is, more automation for luxury would be appreciated. But I love the car!

Got the 2924 Ioniq 5 Disney Platinum edition and it is everything I wanted and more. The Disney branding is classy and stylish with just the right touches of the magic. It maintains the quality you expect from Hyundai and delivers on a truly electric experience.

Need a replacement part? Watch out!

Would have given it 5 stars but have been without it for 2 months; dealership cannot get the part needed - says the manufacturer must save the parts for building new cars. Unacceptable! Leased this car with free electric for two years and now I must buy my own expensive gas for a loaner vehicle.Very disappointed.

My Ioniq 5 required the Lemon Law for a refund

My Ioniq 5 was working well until after 10 months, the car suddenly died in traffic. The car was towed to the dealership with a known defect for the ICCU. My car was at the dealership for almost two months and they were unable to get an ICCU delivered. The dealership provided a substandard rental during this time. I had to use the Lemon Law to get a refund for this car. Google 'Hyundai Ioniq 5 ICCU' to see that this is a known defect effecting the car.

Best EV out there, kills with both performance and looks.

Love this car in every aspect, drive quality, comfort, aesthetics. It checks every box. The only drawback in this car is that I wish it had a wireless Android/Carplay option. Wireless charging is also missing. Rain sensing wipers are missing on SE models. New people sitting in the car don't know where the door handle is, need ambient lighting under the door handle or need an improved design.

Love this car!

From the moment the Ioniq 5 was released, I loved it. I appreciate that its styling is different from every other econ-box on the road today. I love the performance of the AWD motor and having the confidence to take it for skiing and in the snow. This is my third EV and the first one that I would classify as "cool". I still enjoy looking at it and driving it, even after having it for over a year now.

Great car!

I truly enjoy driving my Ioniq. Such smooth pick up! It’s fun and comfortable. I also enjoy using the paddles instead of the brakes! Only negative is the lack of the rear wiper. But I understand the 2025 has one… so only negative dismissed!

Excellent car with a few flaws

Great car all-around, ride, technology, etc. There are just a few flaws, ranging from easily fixable to not so much. Starting with easy - add a battery pre-conditioning button, jumping through hoops in Nav that sometimes don't work is really annoying. Second - add a wiper and USB C ports and actual Bluetooth Carplay connectivity! (All these preceding were done for 2025). Lastly, finally solve the ICCU problem and be transparent to ease owner's minds!

Great car, a few things could be improved

Drives great, even in New York winters. Interior is great, both front and back seats very comfortable. Range meets ratings in good weather, but is reduced at least 30% in the worst winter situations. But the fast charging really makes this manageable. Dashboard layout is annoying, almost impossible to see the vehicle speed if your left hand is on the steering wheel. It would be great if the user could reorganize the location of items on the display like you can on a prius prime. Moving speedometer to bottom center would solve the problem. The other annoying issue is the lack of rear wiper. This was fixed in the 2025 model year.

Frustratingly satisfying and annoying at the same time

This is my first EV after almost 40 years of driving and owning regular cars, and overall I am satisfied with the Ioniq 5. I waited for a long time for EVs technology to mature, and I have evaluated, test drove many EVs before picking the Ioniq 5. The Ioniq 5 Limited met and even exceed many of my expectations. It has roomy interior, comfortable driver seat, useful safety features that I actually use. I took the car on a 1000 miles round trip a week after getting it and was blown away by the driving experience. I was worry about finding charging and how long it would take each time, and besides my in-experience with using fast DC chargers, everything went much smoother than I expected. My next car will definitely be another EV, and most likely Ioniq 5 or its cousin the Ioniq 6.

Honest reviews are tricky. Human memory recalls negatives more prominently than positives. Generally I'm pleased. I chose 4 stars, because there are (small) negatives, but I debated choosing 5. I rated as above average *comfort, *build quality, *performance, *styling, *design and *value. I rated reliability "5", only because I assumed I couldn't leave it unanswered. I think that an accurate rating for "reliability", when the car is only 5 months old (3300 miles), isn't possible. Also, under "experience" your survey doesn't offer me an accurate response option - I 'm leasing; so I checked: "Bought it new". I chose the Ioniq5 because: I wanted an EV for local driving. I'm retired and recently installed a home solar system. I didn't consider a Tesla. A respected friend likes his Ioniq6. And the online reviews were very good.
