Good car

Good car. A few annoying things: you have to change the driving character to full 1 pedal every time you start the car, and after you go into reverse. The seatbelts don’t retract very well. No rear windshield wiper.

Such a pleasure to drive

I bought my Ioniq 5 after having a Mini Copper for 15 years and loving that car very much. I was interested in an electric car and Mini had one at the time but I decided I needed something larger as so many vehicles in Phoenix, AZ are large trucks and SUVs; I wanted more protection than a small car can give against very larger heavy double cab trucks. I researched several different cars and test drove a few. The Ionic 5 had been out for a year and drivers loved them. The car has a massive interior space for driver and all passengers of all sizes to spread out. I opted for the SEL trim level and I can’t be happier. The best thing about this car was something I didn’t hear from others and did not realize when I purchased it. This car charges much faster than almost all the other electrics on the road. I can pull into a charging station where others have already started, get charged and be gone before most everyone else. I never had to wait like other drivers whose cars charged at much slower speeds.

12 volt battery charging

my ioniq5 had a recall in January for 12v battery charging problem after that my 12v battery went dead before recall there were no problems. The car was in and out of shop at least 4 times from February til march until April when they kept car for 2 weeks and fixed it but didn’t replace battery so when they returned car the old battery went within week. I am now driving it for about 5 days and still not sure it’s fixed.

First EV, but have had a few issues

Overall the Ionic 5 is a fun car to drive and has been a good entry for our family into the EV market. There are several things that we would like to see changed/updated in future versions of the car: 1) a rear window wiper (it can be very difficult to see out of in wet conditions), 2) the battery range is limiting and other EV's have better battery range (we average between 180 and 200 miles between charges based on charging to 80% per manufacturer recommendations), 3) the car has had several software recalls (3 in 2 years), as well as a charge port door failure and a 12V battery failure that made the vehicle inoperable (both were inconvenient for us, but would have been expensive if not under warranty).

Great performer with several negatives.

I like the way the car drives but not having a rear windshield wiper is a big minus. At this price point there should be a rear windshield wiper. Particularly important when driving in snow. Not having a spare tire is a huge negative. I was not aware that the car did not come with a spare. I drove over something on the highway, late at night. My tire was destroyed and not having a spare caused me great anguish. I had to be towed off the highway and had to leave my car at a local service station and could only pick it up the following day after a new tire was installed. Position memory for the driver's seat would be a big plus

Fix the bugs!!

Currently the car won't precondition with the key fob if the vehicle is plugged in, regardless if it's currently charging. We need a manual precondition button. Scheduled Charging only works 50% of the time. Someone should be reading r/ioniq5 on Reddit. People are talking about these common issues and more

Good tool

If you’re just looking for a good commuter, this is it. The good: range, speed of charge, comfy The bad: too much software glitches. Parking sensors will go off while sitting in traffic. Fit/finish for a 50k car is disappointing.
