Steves 2024 Ioniq 5 Limited AWD

Drive this car almost everyday. Handles great and fun to drive. Lots of cargo space for groceries, etc. No reliability issues so far. I have owned this vehicle for 9 months.

Super good with minor annoyances

The first lease we have talked about buying at the end. We really love the super low maintenance and the quick acceleration. One annoyance is when sitting at a stoplight the parking front bumper alerts go off frequently even though all traffic around us is not even moving. Another minor annoyance is the automatic dimming for the brights of the head lights. Another minor annoyance is the lack of a rear windshield wiper

Unsafe in snow

No rear window wiper means hazardous to drive in Colorado weather. Also snow pack forms in wheel well making it almost impossible to stop.

Very good car, terrible corporate customer service

The Ioniq 5 is a very good electric car with great range. Very comfortable interior and comfortable ride. Not having a ready wiper is an issue in the rain and lack of wireless support for Android Auto and Car Pay is disappointing. Hyundai Corporate customer Service is terrible. I've had six Hyundais and probably won't buy it lease another because of how I've been treated by customer service.

Great on paper, but with many problems

For the price point, I expected much and received much less. Serious recalls with ICCU, poor interior materials, inferior and outdated software, terrible dealer experiences, loud and uncomfortable ride, and other issues really soured me on a car that I really wanted to like.

An amazing car when I was able to drive it

For a year and a half, this was the best car I ever drove. For 6 weeks and waiting within no end in site, it has been in the shop because of a blown ICCU which is on back order with no ETA. It is approaching 10% of my total ownership lifetime waiting for a part in a shop. I'm not sure I will ever buy a Hyundai car again.

A very good car that makes you wonder why they didn't make it great

There are so many things right about this car, but you wonder if someone in the company other than engineers and marketing folks sat in it. There could be some softer surfaces where knees and elbows touch (for example the door). It's one thing to assume you didn't need a rear wiper (you're wrong), but to not have the windows squeegee the rain off your window when you roll it down? That's a feature every car I've had and have been in since 1970 has had. Are THOSE the make or break things? Not really...but when you combine them with the ICCU problem, I don't know that I'm going to go with a Hyundai when my lease is over. And for what the buyback is, I'll probably not get this one.

Great Car

Great car overall when purchased or leased with incentives. Very overpriced without incentives. The car drives well and even the base model has enough power and acceleration for daily driving. I prefer the cloth seats to the leather seats, but there are a few things that don’t make sense. For example, the door panels are very cheap quality on the base model. I know it’s the base model, but it’s still a $50,000 car. Also, why does the base model not have rear seat air conditioning vents? If I could get memory seats, folding mirrors, upgraded door cards and stereo, but still get the cloth seats, that would be the perfect version of this car to me.
