This is my first EV. What an absolute pleasure to drive. Accommodates 4 grown adults comfortably with lots of room to spare. I would not hesitate to buy it again.

Decent for daily city commute. Inefficient for freeway driving.

Decent city commuter. Poor efficiency during freeway driving, gets around 2.5 miles/kWh. City driving gets you around 3.8 miles/kWh. Vehicle sensors for proximity detection are all faulty/poorly calibrated. Even while sitting in the traffic, the sensors starts making warning noise. No wireless carplay/android auto. Connecting cable android auto, significantly slows down the vehicle infotainment system. Vehicle in-built map for route planning is horrible, compared to other OEMs. DC fast charging time is very reliable during road trips. Consistently provides 10-80% charge within 16-20 mins at EA charging stations. Level 2 charging rate is decent at 9.2-9.4 kW, battery gains 10%/hour. My Hyundai app is very slow and response is not smooth. Vehicle cabin space is roomy, and easily fits 3 adults in the second row comfortably.

Fun and practical

Zippy and reliable, could use a rear wiper blade and at times the electric system glitches (not a safety concern). Overall, with a few updates, I would buy instead of lease.

This replaced a diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee and made us an all-EV family. The Ioniq5 is a perfect blend of simplicity and utility, with features galore.

Basically a great car

A good car. So far reliable. DC charging fast and easy. Very smooth and powerful. Steering feels dumb and imprecise. Little on center feel. Drivers seat somewhat uncomfortable.

Almost Perfect, So Much To Love

Really really like this vehicle. Well made, fun to drive. Technology is great. Two big complaints. The location of the speedometer is terrible; it is directly behind the steering wheel and impossible to see without having to move my head. Second, not putting ac/heating vents in the back seat of a mid-level trim vehicle that retails for more than $50K is insanity. I didn't realize vents were not standard until after we purchased the car. If I had known, it would have been a deal breaker for me. Finally, please don't ever try to charge for app features. Paying $55K for a car should be enough, I will never pay for a subscription for my car. I will never buy a car that requires a subscription to use basic features like remote start.

A Good First Generation

The lack of a rear wiper is more annoying with each rain - my 2007 Toyota Yaris has a rear wipe on the base package. The SEL should have had that on day 1. The "Confirm" button every time the car starts up is moronic. If I am driving a car, regardless of the power source, I am responsible for the safe operation of the car. Having a prompt screen on ever start is maddening and needless. The Hyundai phone applications Terms of Service are horrific. There is no reason I should have to accept a ToS just to see the status of the vehicle I purchased. We don't use the application in our family. There need to be fewer haptic and more physical interfaces for climate control The car drives very well however and is quite a quiet and pleasant place to be when driving. All things that makes an EV pleasant to drive are present (at least to our family), so overall we are fairly happy.

Love my second Ioniq 5!

I was in love with my 2022 Ioniq 5 from day one and I am just as excited about my second one! Compliments all the time from strangers and I’m seeing more and more of them on the road. There’s a reason. It’s not just about Top 10 this and that….it is a joy to drive, charges faster than other cars, and is luxurious in an elegantly casual way. And my range is even better with the new model. Also, mist comfortable car I’ve ever had for my bad back!
