A work horse of a 4WD in small format

I've used this just like my old Chevy S10; driving it around in doing inspections and tree work in the rural and mountain areas of VT, NH, ME, MASS and NY. I've driven Class VI roads without a hitch and even drove it through flood waters in Maine in 2024. It handles super great in snow and dirt/mud roads and can even do general off-roading if you have the right tires, turn off the anti-spin, press the snow and AWD buttons (and use the manual shifter properly) AND.... I've gotten 28.9MPG accumulated average since I bought it in 2023.

Good so far

The SC has been good so far after almost 3 years and 30k miles. Mileage is really good at around 30 in suburban/highway driving mix, power is good, comfort is good. No mechanical issues other than the tonneau cover not closing properly; it was replaced under warranty. Headlights remain a weak point, as they are inadequate in night rainy situations. It would be nice to have more storage nooks and crannies in the cabin. Engine noise is somewhat annoying on acceleration (base 2.5L, AWD). Routine maintenance easy so far.

Good looking "JUNK"

- Cruise control problem (13,956 miles) August 25, 2023 to August 25, 2023 (1 day) - Fuel injectors problem (16,103 miles) September 13, 2023 to October 13, 2023 (31 days) (32 days total) - Fuel injectors problem (16,569 miles) October 26, 2023 to November 16, 2023 (22 days) (54 days total) - Tail light water (22,427 miles) April 15, 2024 to April 17, 2024 (3 days)(57 days total) - Parking brake (33,941 miles) December 30, 2024 to January 16, 2025 (18 days)(75 days total) - Transmission replacement (38,767 miles) May 14, 2025 to May 22, 2025 (8 days)(83 days total) - Transmission replacement (39,722 miles) May 30, 2025 to June 20, 2025 (22 days)(105 days total) If I could go back in time I would stop myself from buying Hyundai Santa Cruz and buy a Ford Maverick I drive my 2nd vehicle with my family because I don't want to be stranded on the side of the road with my wife and kids. No quality in the powertrain, known issues that Hyundai refuses to fix. Really sad because the last two Hyundai's I had before this truck - 2003 hyundai Santa Fe 230,000 miles without major problems - 2014 Hyundai Elantra 187,000 miles without major problems Now Hyundai Santa Cruz under 14,000 miles major problem after major problem. I'm going to run the vehicle to its 100,000 mile powertrain warranty then I'm dumping it and never buying a Hyundai product again

Fun ride

We love the Santa Cruz. However, there is a design flaw in the bed and roll tonneau cover. This needs to be corrected so that when it rains, or while running it through a car wash, the inside of the bed (when the tonneau cover is closed) does not get wet. There is no way to keep items dry in the bed when it rains, etc. This is a serious design flaw.
