Regretful Purchase
I purchased this vehicle approximately one year ago after driving a similar model as a rental vehicle. Overall, I still am satisfied with the styling, technology features, and convenience features of the vehicle. However, I have had numerous, major issues since I purchased the vehicle and deeply regret my purchase.
1. Two days after purchasing the vehicle and after completing my purchase survey, I noticed the driver door did not close flush and appeared as if someone had attempted to pry the door open, as there were scratch marks inside the door jam. At this point I had not driven the vehicle anywhere that it remained parked and it was inside my locked garage at night. The dealer offered no resolution and only provided me the name of a body shop where I could pay privately to have the door re-aligned.
2. Approximately a week or so later, the pull handle located inside the trunk (used to close the trunk) fell out while closing the trunk. The dealer did reattach it, however it has just recently fallen out again and will need to be replaced or reattached.
3. In February of this year, after driving the vehicle two days before, it was found completely dead inside of my garage and was pulled in forward, so I could not easily access the battery. I purchased a battery jumper to jump start the vehicle. In March, the vehicle died again exactly one month from the date it died in February. I took it to the dealership after jump starting it but was offered no resolution and was told to have the vehicle towed out of my garage and taken to the dealer the next time it happened. This response was completely unacceptable as my garage floor is rubber tile and towing the vehicle out of there would cause the tile to rip apart and create a mess.
4. Also in March, while operating the vehicle at nighttime, the screens, interior lighting, headlights, and brake lights all went completely dark as I was traveling approximately 40 mph on a dimly lit road. After approximately 15 seconds of driving in the dark and praying that no one else was on the road, the system seemed to reboot and all of the lights and screens came back on.
5. In July of this year, the passenger A/C vents started blowing warm air even though the climate control was set to "Lo" for both the driver and passenger and the "A/C" mode was on. The driver side vents continued to blow cold air but the passenger vents blew warm air. I made an appointment with the dealership for early the next week, however the issue resolved itself after I began to open and close the passenger vents by hand.
6. This month, the stereo system had an issue causing all speakers to have no sound. I could hear no audio from Apple CarPlay, Sirius XM, AM, or FM radio. The next day I used a paperclip to press the reset button on the stereo and the sound came back. Additionally, there is now a rattle during audio played with moderate to heavy bass which I assume is due to the cheap plastic and/or clips securing the door panels.
I purchased this car because of it's unique styling and advanced technology equipment, however I have paid the price for choosing a Hyundai as the car is unreliable and almost certain to continue causing me issue in the future. I deeply regret my purchase and would not recommend this vehicle or any other Hyundai to anyone.
