Not Quite 5 Stars

If not for 2 major issues in the first two years of ownership I would easily rate this 5 stars. First, the horn went out. Replaced u der warranty. Next two fuel injectors went out. They replaced all 4 under warranty. So while Hyundai was good about repairing these issues, it was disappointing that they happened at all.

I have been completely satisfied with my Santa Fe. I have had absolutely no mechanical problems and have only needed routine maintenance. It drives amazing! The gas mileage is great! And is roomy and comfortable for taking trips.

It's fine vehicle

Couple big things. This vehicle is seriously under powered. And when you use the paddle shifters - the revs go up so much it is disconcerting. My wife said she didn't care about the power - but after driving it- she does. I know you can add it to sport mode but she doesn't always remember and you should not have to. Also - the screens/entertainment system are not good. They take forever to react and I have had times where it won't do anything. We expect more in these days. The climate start system is also confusing and doesn't do what you expect it to do. the car is fine - but it's just fine.

It's a fine vehicle. Just fine.

There are a couple of issues with this car. It is under powered. we bought this for my wife and she said - I don't care about that stuff. She does. The acceleration is lacking and even she feels a little nervous when merging into traffic. When you use the paddle shifters, it downshifts so much and the rpms increase so much that it's disconcerting. It isn't smooth and it doesn't go back into to automatic mode quickly enough. Its just not good enough. The entertainment system is not good at all. It takes forever to respond to commands. Sometimes it does one thing, sometimes another. It just isn't good enough for what we expect today. Sometimes I will push the media button and it will do nothing. Also the auto start/climate start is not clear and I have often started the vehicle expecting the climate to 'warm' up and it hasn't. The seat heaters do not start despite asking it to do. Again, the vehicle is 'fine'. It has a fine ride and has been reliable but these other elements are lacking and would make me question whether to buy another of this brand of vehicles. One last simple thing - when the vehicle is turned off after driving - all the doors don't unlock. They should.

Wish they did better

The interior of the car is pretty decent. The road noise is excessively loud, and the alerts are very loud, especially the seatbelt alert. If the seatbelt alert goes off even if I park it still dings. There have been two computer glitches where my car completely shut down on a busy highway with no way to control the vehicle. Hyundai collects and sells driver behavior and information to insurance companies.

I like my SUV but I wish it had the following things: 1) faster windshield wipers!!! 2) Smaller Center console 3) wireless charger not in the "pocket" where it is now (2023 model); phone charges slowly AND it gets HOT and it stops charging 4) USB-C charging port 5) The APP should give you the option to set a specific temperature on the AC when doing a remote start. 6) the "locking" sound NEEDS to be louder! 5) AC continues to have a vinegar smell. I have taken it to the dealership, and they charge over $100 to put a can to disappear any smell instead of DRAINING/CLEANING the actual AC pipes. Waste of money AND time!

This is a 4 cylinder. I traded in a 6 and I can tell the difference. Plus it seems this rides harder because a shorter wheel basis

Seat belts are sometimes hard to get buckled.

Does not always shift as soon as I press a button. My daughter has had two ne cars . A sonata an a Santa Fe. With three fuel injector problems at approximately $500 each. That be big BS. When you print no problems you should stand by what you say. Not sneaking around to some loop hole. Right now we are considering different brands.
