The "GOOD" out weighs the "Bad" in our Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy!
THE THINGS THAT NEED FIXING NEED TO BE DONE BY HYUNDAI - NOT THE DEALER! THE NEGATIVES NEEDED TO BE DONE - BEFORE THE DEALER GOT THE VEHICLE!
Overall, this is the best car we have owned. However, there are some design flaws and some poor vendor choices that need to be changed and fixed! Hyundai is well aware they have a winner... So, here's the bad stuff...! The drivers seat needs an increase in the range of movement to give a greater distance of seat travel. I believed it is too LIMITED IN TRAVEL for MANY (Larger) AMERICANS! It's 2025, why no folding mirrors? This car has a plethora of "Neat Stuff" to use after lots of learning... most of which is NOT intuitive to learn how to use! A good example is; the "Smart" Cruise Control is a real nuisance to master - not intuitive at all! Things that SHOULD BE intuitive are NOT and are everything but! The many videos on-line are handy, but a Hyundai supplied and branded flash drive with videos for my Calligraphy would be a real help and could be used to boost sales! In addition, a pictorial layout of the many buttons (controls) and what they do would be great! Control (buttons, paddles, toggles and more) are too small and poorly placed for anyone, unless one has small little fingers or hands to easily use! The little symbols next to or on controls are WAY TOO SMALL at 60 MPH to see & ID, remember Business 1.01 - Don't kill your customer or cause them to be killed - it's very bad for repeat sales! Several major features are really lacking, the GPS vendor should be changed - IMEDIATELY - I USE GPS very often - this is the worst GPS I have ever experienced AND I would pay extra to have it replaced NOW! I may end up using a Garmin portable after market GPS on top of the dash... People will ask me why, and I will be honest! That won't be good for Hyundai's reputation or future sales - WILL IT? The radio ease of use is really horrible! But, in the end, like I said in the beginning, this is the best vehicle we've owned... And, you Hyundai know you have a winner!...
So, I don't ever expect to hear anything more about anything I just wrote. That's just the way it is today. BTW, we had a $10,000.00 option installed in our Calligraphy within 2 weeks of buying it. We did not have the Calligraphy to use for a month while the install was happening. Right now, we also own a LEXUS a $60,000.00 Chevy PU truck and our home (principle domicile) was appraised at well over $2,500,000.00. I mention all this because we are not a couple of unhappy and whining yahoos... Hyundai really could do better for their customers and themselves before China does... Remember, this is all my opinion but, I'm not brand loyal... If another company comes out with a better vehicle in the future I may just buy it and not a Hyundai! This is constructive criticism, not sour grapes, Hyundai did do a LOT of things right too - and you know this!
