Reviewed with Low Mileage

My 2023 Hyundai Kona with 12,000 miles has been great so far. I added leather which I enjoy. I had to add the leather because I could not get it without the inclusion of a sunroof which I did not want. The only thing I would change if I could is to permanently turn off the auto-feature wherein the car turns off at stoplights. It seems to put wear and tear on the ignition and I don’t like that feature.

Overall, I am satisfied with the car.

There are little things about the car that are annoying. I HATE the fact that the trip meter resets itself supposedly after 3 minutes, but it resets almost as soon as you turn the car off. I do use both trip meters for different reasons, so having it reset is a problem. I thought it would get better gas milage than it does. Most of my past cars got in the mid to upper 40's, even 50's sometimes, so the low to mid 30's is disappointing. I also find some of the "safety" features unnecessary. They encourage people to be idiots behind the wheel expecting the car to drive for them. When I learned to drive, the person was taught to be responsible for what the car did. To me- all the gadgets put in the cars are more destracting, causing more problems. There are other problems that I can not think of at this time, but I notice when I am driving. Another thing- whomever placed the cup holders obviously does not take their dogs with them. And placing any kind of control button around the shift where a dog can step on the buttons is not wise.

I love my Kona very much I just wish I had more features in the SE model. I couldn’t afford to get the SEL At least heated seats would be be great.

Intermittent technology and poor service

It is generally a good and reliable vehicle, but the technology in the car works and then does not work properly on an intermittent basis. Erroneous and cryptic error messages, cameras that don't activate/deactivate properly, windows that operate and then don't, confusing volume controls, engine hesitation and then not, poor/rough acceleration at times, etc. The service department says they fixed everything ... but none of these problems got fixed after them having the vehicle for 5 days.
