My car has been in the repair shop for over 1 month! Not happy

I have great concern on the quality and workmanship of the vehicle. The car looks great and is fun to drive, but what will happen at year 2 or 3? My issues have led me to search the internet, and its full of people with Ionic 5 problems (ICU).

Smooth and quiet!

Passengers always comment on how quiet and smooth the ride. Great acceleration and handling is effortless. Only disappointment is temperature controls are extremely hard to see in the sunlight. Rear passengers complained about poor AC ventilation.

Loving it so far!

It's our first EV, so we don't have anything to compare the EV part to, but as a car, it.feels incredibly well built. It's very comfortable for both drivers and passengers, and driving is very fun.

Well designed, well built but with a tech design glitch

A great car. Comfortable, a pleasure to drive, and the tech is well executed with one exception. The Forward Attention Warning for monitoring driver attentiveness doesn't work with either my sunglasses or even my clear glasses. Other than that annoyance, the car is really great.

Great but occasional confusion

More like a 4.5. There have been a few times since I got it that it’s been really confusing saying vehicle has to be in park to start, when it’s already in park. So I put it in park again and it just puts it in neutral. It frustrates me a little but it’s usually fixed by turning it off and on again

Wonderful vehicle

This is a great electric vehicle. The one trend that I completely hate about EVs is the big honking monitor floating in the center of the front dash. Hyundai thankfully did not follow that trend and it has two main screens, one for the driver and one for the infotainment/controls. Everything else about the car is great, but the non-monitor is what brought me to the dealer. I won't ever buy a car with the big monitor.

No quality problems, quality finish and fit. Fun to drive and quiet. Still learning all the nuances of the vehicle, and glad my local Hyundai dealer is holding a free safety inservice of the 2025 Ioniq 5 this Thursday. I learn a few new things about the vehicle every week.

Ioniq 5 is a funky and fresh ride that is retro/modern and so fun!

I love the design and shape of the Ioniq 5! It's retro of old skool hatchbacks but has amazing room and comforts. This is my first EV. I was a bit skiddish about moving to full EV but the deal I got was a no-brainer without considering no more gas, no more oil changes and home charging that is essentially free since I have solar on my house. Everything works well. It's fun to drive. It is easy to manage and deal with charging. It looks so cool! My friends love it and are always asking for a ride somewhere. Nice work on this rad ride!

Unfortunate Experience With Hyundai

After excitedly driving across states in VA for my Ioniq 5 in February and three good months driving it, it suddenly would not start the morning of Juneteenth (6/19/25). The display error was that the key fob was not detected even when I have it (and even the spare) in the vehicle. After many many calls with Hyundai roadside assistance and failed tow attempts, the car was eventually brought into the Hyndai shop in College Park, MD 6/22. Communication on the issue was poor from dropped wait lines to lack of clarity on details, inability to get me a loaner for the entire time due to a waitlist of cars needing service. It has now been over three weeks and I am considering legal action and the Lemon Law to get a full refund and end this relationship with Hyundai. So disappointing.

Great Car!

I replaced a 2 1/2 year old Nissan Leaf. The Ioniq 5 feels so much more sturdy as well as elegant and fun to drive. The battery range is excellent, often getting 350 miles shown on the display. I'm very happy with this purchase.
