Better than expected

We've had a flawless experience with our 2023 Elantra. Its fuel efficiency has exceeded all expectations—averaging 42 mpg around town. On a summer road trip from Pennsylvania to Quebec, we reached an impressive 58 mpg on the interstate through Vermont, despite the hilly terrain. Highway driving consistently delivers at least 52 mpg, making this vehicle both reliable and remarkably economical.

Braking, shifting @ road noise

Brakes are noisy & sometimes grab.Transmission grabs almost everytime you slow down to brake. Mileage is great. Car is comfortable to drive

Very dependable, comfortable and economical

I bought this car in 2023 to travel now that I'm retired. In those two years I have put on 54K miles. I do not drive it daily, only for travel. It has been a great car with only the horn needing replaced under warranty. Tires lasted to 45K. Still looks good and drives like new. Has all the tech you could want. My 2023 Prius tech is better, but not by much. The prius will access the internet on the go to answer questions I think of. Elantra can't do that.

It's a dependable little car. I especially like the safety features, including backup camera, heated seats, and cruise control. I am not wild about the computer eating up my phone's gigabytes. I do not find the heat controls quick nor the audio/radio set up.

Great all around daily vehicle

Overall this vehicle is a sound investment. The daily operating cost is fairly low and the reliability is top notch. I've had my car since February 2023 and haven't really had any maintenance completed on it. There were a couple of things to fix almost immediately but after that, nothing. I had to replace a failed horn and the Trunk pull cable finally snapped and had to be replaced as well. Both of these had to be replaced within the first year. There have been a couple of recalls with this car year/model, however, I got those completed while just getting an oil change on a Saturday while heading out of town to visit family. As for daily cost, I drive roughly 30 miles each day to work, lunch & back. On the weekends I normally hit the Interstate and head of out town. With all that driving, I still manage to get 480+ miles on a fill-up. The biggest issue I have would be the tires that Hyundai selects for its vehicles. I have now had a 2018 & 2023 Elantra and the tires are crap. The wet traction is almost non existent when pulling out of a driveway onto the highway with my tires skipping so severely that the car basically jumps up/down while the tire tries to gain traction. This year I replaced all 4 tires with Radar M&S rated tires and the difference is night & day. These new tires grab the wet pavement without any hesitation & the grip while riding through standing water on the roadway is superior to the Hyundai selected tires. In addition, the Radar tires are more quiet and provide a more fun ride. Lastly, the paint job or body panels need to be beefed up some more to handle all the stupid rock hits that I get on the highway. I have gotten numerous paint dents, chips, etc. from rocks, a store buggy that hit my rear door, a paint chip from a door being opened onto my car door panel and all without any fault from me. The Black Chrome on the front fender really needs some attention to keep it looking nice. The bugs, rocks, etc. that hit the front grill and its panels daily/weekly, etc. have caused it to look unattractive & potentially needing a repaint or refinish in the near future.

Average car with great mileage

Overall, this car is average. The mileage is the key factor that I appreciate but many aspects of the car are not satisfactory. I am never satisfied with the defrost and even starting the car early in the window does very little to melt snow and ice. The original wipers were also horrendous in winter and would accumulate slush and leave streaks that obstruct view. Last year, the app did not work for several months in winter so I could not start my car on cold mornings. The customer care was non existent. I doubt I would buy another one.

I am happy overall with my 2023 Elantra Hybrid after driving it for over 2 years. I am very pleased with the handling and responsiveness of my Elantra and the Bose sound system is very good. There are a few things that could be improved such as the passenger seat position, AC vent and USB port(s) for backseat passengers and less delay in making voice call. Unfortunately the 2023 model does not have the free Bluelink+ like the 2024 models, so I will not be renewing my Bluelink based on cost.
