Still learning.

Just completed our first road trip in our new Santa Fe. We were impressed with the solid ride and the many features we discovered while traveling. Averaged 35 mpg out while fully loaded and better on the return trip. Very impressed with the overall quality and generous features.

Never miss the Prius

We traded in my wife’s Prius with high miles to get her the Santa Fe. At first it was a size adjustment getting it in and out of the garage but after we mastered that feat it was all downhill. The tech is great. The seats are very comfortable and it demonstrates that luxury can be had without spending $100,000.00. After we had the Santa Fe for a few months I also bought a Ioniq 5 N.

Great vehicle for the money so far...

I've been driving luxury brand (e.g., Lexus, Infiniti, Mercedes, & Audi) sedans for the past 30+ years and having recently retired, I was a little more cost conscious, wanted a hybrid, and really wanted to avoid having to use premium gas. Several friends and family members expressed their satisfaction with their Hyundai vehicles and after researching 3rd-party sites, I decided to look at the Santa Fe. While the vehicle is NOT at the same level of luxury and the brands I mentioned (or Genesis which I considered), I am extremely happy with the overall quality, luxury, technology, features, safety, performance, and warranty. I think the new body style looks great (Range Roverish), it is the perfect size (not too big, not too small), and because I chose the Limited trim, it is loaded! I do have a few nits that I will share below in the Cons section, but overall, I don't think there is a better SUV for the money on the market.

Not what I hoped for

The vehicle has needed service items since I bought it and I don’t get even close to the listed MPG’s. The window seal on the drivers door whistles, and after first service where they kept car for days to fix it - it still isn’t fixed. It makes the most annoying sound that never stops and it makes me not want the car at all. I selected this car for the MPG’s and I don’t get anywhere close to 34, more like 26. The driver assistance camera on the driver is terribly annoying, and doesn’t allow me to drive with one hand on the top of the steering wheel which is a common way that I drive. As soon as I bought the car the app / cellular connection stopped working and had to be taken for service. Overall very disappointing.

Loving it so far!

So many things to love about this vehicle. Hard to rank or mention them all but here goes stream of thought... Comfort (leather ventilated seats), 2 driver profiles, drivers assist features- cruise and lane keep blows my Toyota out of the water, cockpit layout with two huge screens, mpg (34 average), looks including the big back end (I like big back ends and I cannot lie), 4wd, snow mode, luxury feeling interior, descent hauling capacity for a hybrid, 7 passenger capacity with a big enough rear row

Santa Fe Exceeding all Expectations

We have been very pleased with the Santa Fe. It has a smooth, quiet ride and plenty of room. We have averaged 36 MPG, which is better than advertised and better than we expected. Acceleration and braking is smooth.

This SUV gets a LOT right and there isn't much room for complaint. It handles great, has sufficient engine, and a lot of technology packed in. While sufficient the engine could be improved, I wish it leaned on the electric motor more with a bigger HEV battery for acceleration or a 6-cylinder was available. The technology is great and HDA2 is cool but does leave room for hopes that software updates improve it. The Calligraphy interior is great, very comfortable and luxurious and it's getting close to Lexus-level that I wish they went a little further to get competitive. The 3rd row design and exterior aesthetic is fantastic. The keyfob is weird and somehow almost 3 times larger than the Santa Fe keyfob from 2018, and still doesn't house the physical key - a very strange design choice I have lots of questions about. Overall my complaints are minor in the grand scheme.
