Great ride, better controls big improvement over 2023 model.

Fixed biggest issues with older version, ride, heated seat control and rear wiper! Automated hatch control is still a miss….

We basically love it, but you can make it even better.

This is our second I5, so that says a lot. The first was a ‘22 AWD Limited. Virtually all of the many changes are for the better—good job with the refresh. There’s a lot that’s done very well in our ‘25 AWD Limited. For many ideas on how to make it even better, join the “The Ioniq Guy” Facebook group. Yes, there’s quite a bit of nonsense there, but you’ll also see some legitimate complaints and ideas for improvements.

An Excellent EV

Got this car to replace a Model Y. It is significantly more comfortable, with great suspension and interior fitting. The drive is fun, responsive and tight around turns. The ranges is not as good as the Model Y, but is still fine for 99% of my days. DC charging is very quick. The native NACS charger is great because I didn't need to switch my home Tesla charger. Some very minor things I'd like to see improve is allowing for driver profiles based on key, more sub trunk space, allowing a set regeneration level between drives and easier to manage UI. Be aware that you *can* use the Tesla supercharger network, but not ALL of them work with non-Teslas. You need to use the Tesla app to determine that. Found out the hard way one time with 7 miles range left...

excellent

almost perfect except: driver seat does not pitch down (front of seat angled down) far enough, would like a little more, regen to brakes not tuned perfectly, wish it was clearer how the levels of regen work. confusing on how to disconnect the power charger cable or stop charging without a unlock key

I love driving this car, but I can't recommend buying it.

I love the exterior, interior, and features of this car. Coming from a 2010 Corolla, the Ioniq 5 has been an absolute pleasure to drive and live with. There is one glaring issue though that prevents me from recommending it to anyone: the ICCU problem. Hyundai has claimed that they have fixed the issue with software updates, however, it is clear that the issue persists. I feel like my car is a potential time bomb until one day, the ICCU fails and I am left without a vehicle. It is irrelevant that the part has a 10 year warranty; no vehicle should be released with a potential issue that could leave you stranded out of town or on the highway. With that being said, if Hyundai actually fixes their ICCU design (a real hardware fix, not just a software patch), I would tell everyone I know to buy this vehicle. Everything else is stellar. The 2025 version is definitely better than the 2024 and older versions. I also wish that Android Auto would connect to either my or my wife's phone depending on who's driving profile was active. It has gotten quite annoying having to manually switch back and forth depending on who last drove. I am leasing the limited 2025 Ioniq 5 RWD and watching to see if Hyundai actually fixes their ICCU problem. If they do, I plan on buying out my car at the end of the lease. If they do not, I will not be leasing or buying another vehicle from Hyundai, Genesis, or Kia.

A lemon we can’t use but can’t get rid of.

It quit after 5 days and 300 miles. After 2 months and no repairs we started a repurchase but now 4 months after it failed we are still out $30,000 and making payments and stuck with a gasoline powered loaner that only gets 30mpg. No one we tell of our experience can believe a customer could be treated as badly as we have been but we assure them that is how Hyundai treats customers who are sold cars with bad batteries.

Ionic 5 review

Great vehicle, would redesign the interior a bit. Console is a bit bulky and leaves a huge space between the cup holder and front lower holder. I also don't like that you can't unlock all 4 doors up on the keyless entry feature. It makes it difficult when we both travel in the car. Otherwise. Love the ride, handling and the feel of the car. Wish there was a air conditioned seat option for the hot Arizona summers- I will never use the heated seats out here. Would recommend to my friends and since I only drive 25 miles a day or less it sure is saving me at the pump.

Very good electric hatchback

This is my first EV vehicle and Hyundai. I own several BMWs and a Mazda and have experience with several american and other japanese automakers; this is my first Korean car and I am impressed given some of the stigma associated with Korean cars from the past. The Ioniq 5 is of course already highly rated by several automotive magazines and other outlets so you know it's a good vehicle. The 2025 introduced the NACS charging system which simplifies the use of the more extensive Tesla charging network when traveling long distances. I primarily bought it for myself for commuting to work but it's quickly become the go to family car, above our previously primary 2019 Mazda CX-9 given how simple it is to get in and drive and spacious second row for the kids to get into. When doing city driving it's pretty economical, hitting the noted targets, my best projected range after charging from 100% and getting down to about 20% was about 320 miles which exceeds to the AWD ratings. However, because my commute is mainly toll highways where speeds average 75mph, the range plummets rapidly, I get 2-3 kW/mi. Regardless, with a level 2 charger installed at home, charging is inexpensive and very fast, go from 20-80% in about 6-7 hours. After nearly 5k miles in 5 months I am very pleased, it's been very low maintenance and relatively fun to drive for its size. The software has some quirks though. for example the Daylight detection is one of the worst I've seen in a car; when driving in the middle of a sunny day and passing under a bridge prompts the car to think it's nighttime changing everything to dark mode but then it takes up to a minute to detect the sun again at times and change the system back to something legible. Also, the headlights leave a lot to be desired in my opinion, there's an odd gap between the light beam and the front bumper. Sound system is acceptable in the SEL, as is the quality of the faux-leather materials. Eerything is easily cleaned which is a must with 2 toddlers riding in the back seats. The phone app is better than the one for my 2024 BMW, everything loads up faster and I get status updates quicker. The infotainment I would say is on par to my BMW as well, which is impressive given the cost difference I would've expected cheaper components causing lag and delays in moving between screens and loading Apple's iDrive or Android Auto but it's as quick and rock solid as I see on my BMW (something I constantly struggle with on my Mazda CX9)

Great car, poor user interface

It's too bad that this car has such a poor user interface. Buttons are good, but the buttons on this car have no tactile feedback, so you have to look at them in order to press one; might as well be on the screen. Some buttons do one thing one time and something else the next time. The screen menus are confusing and it's hard to find things you want.
