Replaced my Tesla and turns out to be a great car.

No quality problems, quality finish and fit. Fun to drive and quiet. Still learning all the nuances of the vehicle, and glad my local Hyundai dealer is holding a free safety inservice of the 2025 Ioniq 5 this Thursday. I learn a few new things about the vehicle every week.

Ioniq 5 is a funky and fresh ride that is retro/modern and so fun!

I love the design and shape of the Ioniq 5! It's retro of old skool hatchbacks but has amazing room and comforts. This is my first EV. I was a bit skiddish about moving to full EV but the deal I got was a no-brainer without considering no more gas, no more oil changes and home charging that is essentially free since I have solar on my house. Everything works well. It's fun to drive. It is easy to manage and deal with charging. It looks so cool! My friends love it and are always asking for a ride somewhere. Nice work on this rad ride!

Satisfied with comfort and full features, dissatisfied with plethora of buttons, paddles, levers and touch screen options required to operate the vehicle. Built-in geo navigation system makes annoying routing mistakes.

Unfortunate Experience With Hyundai

After excitedly driving across states in VA for my Ioniq 5 in February and three good months driving it, it suddenly would not start the morning of Juneteenth (6/19/25). The display error was that the key fob was not detected even when I have it (and even the spare) in the vehicle. After many many calls with Hyundai roadside assistance and failed tow attempts, the car was eventually brought into the Hyndai shop in College Park, MD 6/22. Communication on the issue was poor from dropped wait lines to lack of clarity on details, inability to get me a loaner for the entire time due to a waitlist of cars needing service. It has now been over three weeks and I am considering legal action and the Lemon Law to get a full refund and end this relationship with Hyundai. So disappointing.

So much fun to drive. It is fast and tracks well. The safety features are a huge benefit and it has everything we need.

Great Car!

I replaced a 2 1/2 year old Nissan Leaf. The Ioniq 5 feels so much more sturdy as well as elegant and fun to drive. The battery range is excellent, often getting 350 miles shown on the display. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Excellent EV

The vehicle is very comfortable and quiet. As with any EV the mileage varies with the temperature, wind and driving speed. The EPA estimates are close enough and the planning tools adequate to help in planning your charging stops. The car is fun to drive and has a significant of driving and safety aids to make both short and long haul driving less stressful.

Annoying but good car

I live on the coast, winding bumpy roads. Hyundai is constantly telling me to take a coffee break. Far too frequently. Window controls are flaky, and once stopped cannot be closed without getting back into the car.

2025 Ioniq 5 SE is an excellent value

We bought a new 2025 Ioniq 5 SE primarily to reduce our impact on carbon emissions but got much more. The car is a dream to drive, especially on the windy, mountainous roads of western North Carolina. It hugs the road and taking corners is made even easier with using regenerative braking. The 2035 model is outfitted with a NACS charging port, which allows us to use Tesla charging stations without an adapter. We are slightly disappointed in the lack of a spare tire (it relies on a "tire mobility kit" instead) and find tha owner's manual to be difficult to understand. These are very minor issues compared to the pleasure we find in driving and knowing that we have measurably reduced the amount of our air pollution.

Amazing all-around vehicle

I really like basically everything about this car. It handles well. Range is great. Interior is very comfortable, both front and back - my 6'5" dad has plenty of room in the rear row. The phone charger in the center console is very well-positioned. Information and most controls are where I'd intuitively expect them to be. I like the physical buttons they have over the touch controls I saw on the pre-2025 models, though I wish even more things were buttons instead of touch controls, like the overhead lights and some of the climate controls. The drive-assist features are very good. Lane assist keeps me from drifting; automatic lane change works well though I prefer to do that manually. My only real annoyance is that the system tracking your eyes to make sure they're on the road sometimes has false-positives for you looking away, and will ping you to look back at the road when that's where you're already staring. It might be a combination of bright light in your face and/or wearing glasses. Most of the time it's fine.
