Superb updates to an already excellent EV
I test drove a 2024 Ioniq 5 during the research phase for my next vehicle purchase, and was impressed. I had never driven a car that fell so smooth on the road, nor been in a cabin so quiet. The infotainment system was top notch, even better than some of the luxury EVs I had test driven.
When I was finally ready to purchase a new car, I went on a hunt for the latest iteration, the newly updated 2025 Ioniq 5. I ended up having to go out of state to find the one I wanted, a Limited Trim in Digital Teal. I am stunned by how much better just the mid-cycle updates to this model are! The new CCNC infotainment system is more intuitive, snappier, and feature rich. The buttons on the console are a nice upgrade over the touch panel buttons (though some still exist). Even though most updates are considered minor, all the tweaks together made it feel like a second generation model. I still haven't found a car, even on the EV side, that feels as good as driving this one. In curves, on straights, over hills or rough terrain, this car feels superbly balanced, compliant, and eager to tackle the road. As for charging and range, I am getting what I expected there given how spirited I tend to drive. When I am conscientiously trying for efficiency, the car again complies and I am able to squeeze a good 220 miles of mixed driving range (keeping charge at 20-80%).
