If you live in snow country, consider other options

Overall the vehicle performs well except for two considerable issues during the winter. Door handles don't work well during the winter. They frequently freeze in the closed/locked position and won't lock when snow or ice develops. The windshield wipers become inoperable when snow and/or ice builds up at the bottom of the windshield and the hood of the vehicle. I've lived in snow country for almost 40 years and have never had this issue with other makes/models of vehicles. Both are safety issues that Hyundai definitely needs to address. Grateful I'm only leasing it for two years.

Smooth and quiet. It feels well-built.

Very well built automobile. Nice, smooth ride. Complex software. Takes awhile to get used to. Could use additional features like walk- away lock. OTA software update work well. Public charging is still difficult. Too many different chargers with their own unique user interface. Luckily, have the NACS/Tesla (J-3400) charge port, so I mostly use Tesla Superchargers that work flawlessly with Plug and Charge.

Worse than my 2024 and now its broken

I previously had a 2024 Ioniq 5 SEL and really enjoyed it. It was totaled in an accident and I was forced to replace it with a 2025 which was 50% more expensive despite being identical. The 2025 has worse seats (the cloth was more comfortable and spacious) because the leather are thicker and make me sit more forward and high. Because of this I cant see the whole gauge cluster. The rear wiper is an improvement but is too small and the backup camera still gets filthy and unusable most of the time. Hyundai should copy what VW does and put the camera behind the trunk emblem so it stays dry. The range is better and the tesla charger is fine I guess (I use Electrify America so the adapter is a pain to use). The car needs a dedicated place to store the adapter because it is quite heavy and flies around the trunk. The wireless charger doesnt work as well and because it is sitting in the sun your phone gets so hot in a few minutes that it doesnt charge. The wireless carplay is nice but having to constantly select and confirm the user account when you start the car is dumb and annoying. The rear cargo area under the trunk is smaller. Also the cars rear suspension needs tuning because turning over any kind of bump feels very wobbly and unstable and the TCS freaks out and slams on the brakes. Makes it challenging to drive fast or when you are trying to have fun But my biggest complaint is that my car had an ICCU failure after just 1500 miles. This put me in a ICE loaner car so now i have to pay for gas while my free charging that came with my EV goes to waste. That is unacceptable to have that kind of failure so soon into ownership.

Love it except for..

Great car. My only issue so far is the cruise control. I am over 6’ tall and wear glasses. The cruise control has a device that makes sure you keep your eyes on the road. Not sure why, but it will not pick up my eyes and I get a warning every time I try to use it. I wish this “feature” could be turned off as it renders the cruise control useless to me. Works fine for my wife, but she is shorter.

Love this car!!

I'm not big on hyperboles, but I mean it...I love this car. So many features, great power, and easy to drive. I'm a big guy - 6" 4" and over 250lbs, and I fit in the car so comfortably. my wife is the opposite 5' even and has no problems using every feature in the car. I charge at home with a level 1 charger, and that has worked for me so far. Only charging concern I have had was driving up into the mountains (started with a 70% charge), car takes some power when climbing. Had to charge before coming home. Of course, coming home was the opposite; using the regenerative breaking, I hardly used any power coming off the mountain.

Amazing Car

Fun To Drive

very comfortable and easy to drive

The Ioniq 5 is comfortable and easy to drive. My only negative comments to date are as follows. Dirt can get in the spaces between the body and the doors/hatchback. This is common to most cars but seems to be more pronounced on the Ioniq 5. The algorithm for estimated range is opaque. It is unclear how the max range is estimated. Nominal range tends to overestimate available range. I get a better estimate by a using a linear model based on the miles/kWh for the current trip multiplied by the total battery capacity and the percent charge remaining. I would think the algorithm used in software considers more factors and would therefore be better, but it is not. Everything else is really nice so far and I drive this vehicle whenever I can!
