Best ev on market

We love almost everything about the vehicle. It is far superior to anything Tesla makes and is the best looking car out there (looks unusual and cool without looking weird). We really wish it came in a red color.

Only had the car for 30 days

Car has been in the shop for 60 days with EV battery failure and no timeline for replacement. We did a 2 year single-pay lease and had the car for 30 days until the BMS alerted and the car would not charge reliably or past 67%. Took it in to realize the main EV battery was going to need to be replaced. After nearly 60 days in the shop, we still don’t have a timeline of when the battery will be shipped and replaced by Hyundai.

Really a pleasure to drive

I like pretty much everything about the vehicle - it’s stylish, comfortable, drives really well, has terrific acceleration, and an excellent control panel layout. The major con is that of failed ICCus are concerning - both for the inconvenience and possibility of being stranded; I bought a new car partly for more reliability. Potential tariff wars mean that getting parts might be an issue. Honestly, if it was not for that I’d be 100% happy with the vehicle. Overall, I think it’s an exceptional value for the money, with a slightly anemic AC and a bit cumbersome turn radius more than balanced out by a lot of safety features, excellent build and overall sense of excellent quality.

Overall, an enjoyable vehicle

Lots of things to like about the car—smooth ride and decent efficiency. Could be quicker on the launch but I guess that’s what the N trim level is for. The greatest feature is actually the door handles, which are huge, long, illuminated troughs. It’s amazing how useful they are for temporarily storing small items.

Great car when the 12v works

This is a great all around car. I prefer smaller cars, usually hatchbacks, and while most cars are getting bigger these days, the 2025 Ioniq 5 is effectively a modern hatchback and around the same size as a compact SUV like the RAV4 or Tucson. Also one of the first EVs to adopt the NACS charging port (Tesla port). The biggest downside to this car is the 12v system. Frequently you will have 12v issues, which means you cannot start the car. You will learn to always carry a portable jumper pack with you (possibly two of them). It's not just ICCU problems, I've been through two 12v batteries already within 3 months of owning the car and neither issue was related to the ICCU. Many Hyundai cars, especially their EVs and to a lesser extent their Hybrids (Tucson HEV) have very unreliable 12v battery systems with constant drain issues. So if you're looking for reliability, you make want to look elsewhere. I also wish the electronic child lock was not a single button to control all 4 rear passenger locks. It should really be split into 2 buttons like Audi and Tesla do.

New Driving Experience

This car is easy and fun to drive. We haven’t learned all the features yet, but are figuring them out slowly but surely. The car is very comfortable. The alarms can be a little jarring, but I’m learning to take them as a warning instead of an imminent collision.

Great car, annoying character constraints on customer reviews.

Easy to drive. The NACS charging port makes it easy to charge. Good driver assist features. Is not a Tesla! Making customers use a minimum number of characters in the review is a negative and came close to having me abandon this review unfinished.

The 2025 IONIQ 5 is a practical, fun, small SUV EV with a great range

I have a standard range SE RWD. This replaced our 2010 Prius and I wanted to get an EV of similar size. While it looks the same size, I was pleasantly surprised it is bigger and roomy with adequate passenger and cargo space. The vehicle has a good mix of technology, safety, performance and usability. I like the fact that it has a 315+ mile range, all safety features and the driver interface has both hard buttons and a good infotainment touch screen. So there is much less learning curve to drive this car compared to others which only have a touch screen. The car has plenty of USB-C charging ports and wireless Carplay (and Android Auto) which I use frequently with my phone. The car is quiet and has great acceleration when needed. I am also enjoying the one pedal driving. The Bluelink app is good and I use it fairly often to check the car status. I have purchased a V2L adapter and modified our home circuit panel to support using the car battery as an emergency backup power for key circuits during a power outage. This is our first Hyundai and the 10 year powertrain warranty gives me confidence on the quality and reliability of the car. Hyundai also offered a great lease deal for the car. Overall I really love this vehicle.

Elderly first-time EV owner(s) enjoy the comfort and quietness.

We have found the IONIQ 5 easy to use and the most comfortable vehicle we have owned; our previous vehicle was a Genesis G70. Our first road trip of about 1500 miles was pleasant and stopping every couple of hours to charge up to 80% matched our desire for a break.

Would be great if everything worked

Like the car. Can’t use Lane Keep Assist. Keeps telling me it can’t see my face. Service people have no clue how to fix it. Called Hyundai Customer Service Waiting for response. If the problem gets fixed, the car would be terrific.

Under-educated dealer on tech set up was the only issue

Dealer was not well trained on setting in up digital keys and during negotiation told us we'd get a period of free charging which he withdraw just before we closed the deal ( which changed the economics of the deal.) we went back once in the digital key issue and eventually called Hyundai support to get the correct setup for the second user. There was confusion on what charging plugs/adapters were included. The car itself has been a pleasure to drive. The large display of media, maps, etc could be better laid out & have a few more customizations, but is ok. We have not been disappointed by or purchase

Exceeds Expectations

The car is a joy to drive. There have been no problems in a little over 4 months with the exception of Blue Link going down. The dealer fixed in while I waited and it's been perfect ever since. I've taken it on one trip so far and with access to both networks, charging was a pleasure and I welcomed the 20 break.

Purchased new - delivered dirty and broken

Noticed back panel was not attached on left side. Took it in and was told I would need to pay $2500 to fix and this clearly happened when I got the car washed except the car was filthy and I never got it washed. Very poor customer service. Disappointing when you spend so much money on a new car.

Tesla owners: IONIQ 5 is even better! Buy this instead. You'll love it

I love my Limited RWD IONIQ 5. It's well-designed, well-manufactured, has great range, is aesthetically pleasing, and its extra features (head-up display, surround view, glass roof) are worth extra $.
