Needs some features

Side view cameras should be standard at all trim levels. Blind spot indicators should be yellow NOT red. Red is not bright enough to be seen well.

Very nice if looking to jump into electric market.

With closing in on 9000 miles on my 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 I can say overall I am happy with the vehicle. I traded in a 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 as I was looking for an increased amount of range out of a vehicle aside from the overall range the ID.4 was a great vehicle. The Hyundai is roomie and comfortable in the inside cabin and the outside has a distinct but nice style to it, not as bland as some of the others in the EV field. There are some things that I do wish were a little improved in the interior, including a better Center console space as there was little storage there, but it’s not ideal breaker The thing I was most impressed with was the range of the vehicle gets whereas my Volkswagen topped out at about 274 miles at 100% charge I get that at 80% with the Hyundai and a 320 mile range approximately on 100% charge to give an example. This makes my trip to Disney in Anaheim, which is a 4 Hour Dr. much better as I only have to stop once to charge the NACS charging is also a game changer as the vehicle charger is a lot faster than my previous at times getting 220 kW charging speeds Overall, if you’re interested in an electric vehicle, want something that doesn’t look boring and has just enough features that you feel that you aren’t overpaying just for it being an electric I think this is a decent vehicle.

Comfortable but needs some changes

Unlock on approach does not always work. Sometimes I have to get my phone out and use the app to unlock the car. The blue LEDs on the dash for temp, airflow direction, etc. are almost impossible to see unless it is dark. Car will lock randomly when it is unlocked and I walk by. My Tesla model 3 would charge twice as fast just using a 110v outlet as the Ioniq 5 does. The Ioniq is very comfortable to drive, especially on the interstate. The lane keeping feature is too sensitive to curves and abruptly turns off and on. It works fine on straight highways. I never use the native mapping/nav app and always use CarPlay and Apple or Google maps. Charging at Tesla superchargers is now pretty good using the Hyundai app.

Satisfied but wish there was more

I like the ride of the car it’s smooth and solid. I like that I have about 260 miles on a charge. I like the heads up display and the fact that I get CarPlay. After having a Tesla, I wish it did some of the things the Tesla does like automatic car turn off and automatic door locking when you walk away. I keep forgetting to do those two things because I had a Tesla. I also wish it had automatic mirror folding and automatic garage door opener like the Tesla. I love the ipedal for one pedal breaking, but I have to put it on every single time I get in the car instead of it just always being on. Also, sometimes my automatic trunk opener works, and sometimes it doesn’t. Half the time I jstand behind the car and it doesn’t do anything. Sometimes the automatic unlock also doesn’t work when I walk up to the car. I do like the handles that pop up.

Great vehicle for the money, esp with NACS charger plug now built-in for those who had a Tesla or wants to use supercharging without an adapter.

Exceptional all the way!

Great look, comfort, driving experience, fast charging at home, and safety features. FIRST car that understands audio commands, e.g. "call home" without having to repeat.

Great vehicle with poor software choices

I've had the 2025 Ioniq 5 for several months now and have driven it on trips and daily local driving. It's a great car overall, but has some missteps. I purchased the XRT submodel and have been pleased by the smoother semi-offroad suspension. The interior looks nice and is very functional. The seats look nice, but they aren't all that comfortable and probably need to be worn-in. As our vehicle has the NACS charge port as standard, we've charged at different Superchargers and destination chargers and that experience has been okay for location with longer charge cables to reach the opposite-side charge port. The included home 120V charger is, however, unreliable. It frequently disconnects and reconnects and is noticably wasteful (about 30%) with energy losses during charging. Get a Level 2 home charger to minimize losses. We are disappointed that it was hard to locate an XRT model in the right color, as most dealerships either had 1 XRT or none at all. It seems to be exceptionally limited in availability. The biggest downside to the car is the built-in vehicle software and the poorly-designed mobile app. Remote commands on the mobile app take a LONG time to reach the vehicle, sometimes 2-4 minutes. This is ridiculous. The mobile app doesn't support phone key on any phone not Samsung, Apple, or Google. That's a ridiculously lazy failure. The app buttons an UX are poorly designed. I don't need a separate button to Start and Stop climate controls, nor a separate Lock and Unlock button. These should be 1 button that changes state to indicate current operational status. It is unnecessary clutter and your UX designers should be ashamed. Also, having a popup in the app that comes back 15 seconds after being dismissed *every time* is another ridiculous failure. Lets get into the OS choices for the vehicle. Hyundai seems to have chosen a new OS for the 2025 vehicles and removed some configuration options present in earlier models, like charge port locking behavior. Now I also hear that OS is going to be abandoned in future models. If you're going to change the OS, at least make it appear to have functional continuity. And stop trying to sell me additional subscription items I don't want.
