Needs work

When we bought our new Ionic 5, we didn't notice that the driver's door didn't match smoothly at the seam with the rear door. We took the car in to the dealer to have the door repaired under warranty. It has been nearly a month since we took the car in and it is still not repaired. As part of the research into our problem, the dealer told us that many of the newer Ionic 5s were showing a similar issue. We went by the dealer and verified there were numerous cases of the problem. This leads to questions over quality control at the factory. If a door that everyone can see doesn't fit, what else is subpar, especially in places that aren't readily visible? We are disappointed. That said, we love the way the car drives and many other characteristics of the EV. The Hyundai warranty was one of the reasons we bought the car. Whether we can recommend the Ionic 5 will depend on the ability of the company to provide us with a car that meets the standard one expects with a new vehicle.

No problems so far

Great car. The only downside is charging time and that it's pricey compared to gas vehicles. I am saving some money on gas, but also the electricity is costing more than I expected. Rated value lower as I'm not sure the additional $20k or so over the cost of a gas vehicle adds up to the savings on gas.

Dead after only 3 months

ICCU failure after only 3 months. Apparently this seems to be a common failure on these cars. To make matters worse, AAA couldn't tow a car with a dead battery, and Hyundai has NO ETA on replacement part after 3 weeks so far (people on facebook say 6-12 weeks is common).

Super great besides one thing

Overall this is a great ev. Good mileage, good sound, heated seats the whole thing. However as a mother, having no button for the trunk on the key fob, nor having no hands tech to open the trunk really kills it for me sometimes.

Surprised by missing features

Overall happy with car, but disappointed package did not include garage door opener (!), seat and mirror position memory settings. Seems crazy for a vehicle selling for around $50K.

Poor software

Amazing a premium car does not allow for seat settings in drivers profile. My wife and I have to constantly adjust the drivers seat whenever each of us drive the car. Another annoying item car does not self lock when walking away. I have to manually lock the car. Take a page from tesla on these two items.

Dead ICCU Before 4000 Miles

Fun, fast little car, but apparently it has a known issue with the ICCUs being poorly made, failing often and because of this being on back order. Which nobody told me about before I started leasing this. I currently have been without my car for a week and I still haven't heard back from Hyundai after emailing them through their app twice. I did receive this offer to drop a review though. They don't have loaner vehicles to give out and won't respond regarding up front rental reimbursement.

Love it except...

I like the car very much except for the following: 1) very complex = steep learning curve. 2) the car should turn itself off & lock itself when you walk away. 3) Twice the port wouldn't release the charge cable (there is a youtube on this defect). 4) the phone charge pad stopped working for a couple weeks and then mysteriously started charging again.

It's a lemon

Upon delivery, a rattle needed to addressed. That was 4 days. I was told bolts were loose. Two tires have been replaced - instantly deflated so car had up be towed. Three weeks ago, the ICCU failed. It's now at the dealer for "several months" waiting for the part on backorder. I've had the car 4 months, 1000 miles. I'm paying for an EV car I don't have (small, powerless gas car as a loaner). Very disappointed. I want a replacement or, to cancel the lease. Other issues - no button to open the trunk (from inside) or button to close it. Cannot program to open the garage doors. Basic features, I thought (on my last 3 cars).
