EV Skeptic turned EV Enthusiast

I chose the 2025 Ioniq 5 SEL because my of how much I started to drive for work. At first, I was considering similar-sized Hybrids, but ultimately I chose the Ioniq without even driving it. I went with the Ioniq because of its native NACS port, fast charging speed, and size of the interior when comparing to the exterior (there’s so much room inside for such a compact car). I’ve fallen in love with the BlueLink remote starts, digital key, and inexpensive home charging costs vs variable gas prices. For those worried about range—this car will get you where you need to go. I did a 12 hour drive and with an EV, I only added an hour of travel time. My hotel had a charger so when I woke up, my car was 100%. Yes it’s behavior change, but it’s worth it. I’m excited to crested a V2L hook up for my home so that I can use the massive 77kWh battery as a small back up for outlets and fans, in a worse case scenario. This car is so excited. 2nd ionic 5 in a month

Coming from a model three Tesla this feels like a more complete vehicle. Love the style love the interior. I had a bad experience with the first one that I bought because it stopped charging after a week of ownership and needed a backorder part, but the dealer took care of me and I got a new one

Terrific Car!

I've been really pleased with the Ioniq5, my first EV. It's well-built and intuitively designed. The complaints I do have are 1st world problems, like when I go to FM it defaults to all stations instead of my Favorites. I tell people it's like driving an iPhone on wheels, given the easy to use Settings area of the touch screen. It feels a little wobbly going faster on turns like highway exits. Tires, stabilizer or something else? I don't know. But you cannot beat on-demand power, A/C and heat. Love the sound system. Space allocation in the 2nd row and area behind it are just right.

Excellent vehicle and fun to drive

Great car

I love this car, why 4 out of 5 stars? The AC system is wonky, there are no outlets in the back and the front vents don't always hit right especially the right side drivers vent. It hits the steering wheel and no air gets to the driver.

Love it even more than we thought we would! Iconic design!

Love the exterior/interior design (light grey interior!) and all of the physical buttons. Range and charge speed is fantastic. A couple of small details: hard to know when NACS cable is disengaged vs CCS on our Polestar. Frustrating that pedal turns off when shifting between reverse and drive and no iPedal in Reverse. Our Polestar stays in 1 pedal and that is safer. Shifter difficult when parallel parking a lot. Would like level between Limited and N. Love how Iconic the design is at this price point. Now just make us a small EV coupe like the N74!

My thoughts.

Stylish, kind of "in" color. Although I haven't calclulate the savings in using watts rather the gas, I suspect it's worth going electric. I know the maintenance cost will be significant. Overall, I feel I made the right decision in leasing the car.

Great range, safety features, and comfort

It's easy for me to charge up from my home's solar and I never have to worry about the battery level otherwise since the overall range is excellent. The 360 camera makes it easy to park both at home and when out. Especially enjoying the ventillated front seats.

Overall great car with a couple needed improvements

Overall we love our Ioniq 5. It's fun to drive, comfortable to ride in, and performs as advertised. The back seat is great for our kids and we appreciate the thoughtful interior design and technology. Our only negative feedback related to some of the safety features. First, the blind spot alerts alarm with false positives all the time (eg it starts beeping when there is no one in the blind spot, but merely a car several lengths behind me that I can see clearly in the mirror). This behavior conditions the driver to ignore the blind spot warning. Secondly, the interface for changing the driving style and iPedal settings feels unsafe. I drive with the iPedal all the way up for regenerative braking and one-foot driving. But when I put the car in reverse (say, to make a three-point turn), the iPedal setting gets switched to a lower default, meaning that the braking behavior of the vehicle changes from one point in the turn to the next. Similarly, if I set the iPedal all the way up and then cycle through driving styles, the iPedal settings get changed automatically. What this means is that when I have the vehicle at a stop with the iPedal, if I push the driving style button, the iPedal settings change and the car starts rolling away. This is very dangerous, and I'd prefer a way to leave the iPedal setting at my desired position (all the way up) rather than having it default to a different setting every time I change gear or turn the car off.

Great car ... EXCEPT!

We are completely satisfied with the ride, driving characteristics, seating profile, technological capabilities and efficiency of our 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5. It ideally suits our transportation needs. The only thing about our new car that is VERY ANNOYING is the lingering smell that developed within a week of our taking delivery. It's like something was burnt inside the car, or some component of the car is wearing down that is creating this smell. If I drive in the car for more than 30 minutes I start to get a headache from the smell. Since my spouse is the primary driver of the car, and isn't "as" affected by the odor as I am, I have yet to call our local Hyundai service department to see if this smell can be diagnosed and remedied. Our car is four months old with about 1250 miles on it. I really dread taking it into the shop with this complaint. It's very annoying.

My car has been in the repair shop for over 1 month! Not happy

I have great concern on the quality and workmanship of the vehicle. The car looks great and is fun to drive, but what will happen at year 2 or 3? My issues have led me to search the internet, and its full of people with Ionic 5 problems (ICU).
