Super Fun to drive.

This car is great to drive. At around 85000 miles, things can start misbehaving and you will need a good Mercedes shop to diagnose and fix things. These vehicles parts are getting a bit hard to find, so something to consider when deciding to own one.

Quality and performance of SL55

Bought my 2005 SL55 about 10 mos. ago with 21k miles on it. Replaced all the fluids, including the pneumatic self leveling fluid, supercharger fluid as well. The car is superb highway cruiser, very comfortable for long journeys, just got back from Canada. Upgraded my ECU unit with Stage 2, claiming 567 hp and 630 ftlb torque. The car is amazing, and still get 21 mpg.

Just bought a slightly used 2005 SL55 with 21k original miles.

The car is easy to drive, very quiet with the top up. Muscle car if you want it to be. Had my EAcU upgraded by Pressertech inc. stage 2, 568 hp and 620 lbft of torque. Just awesome, no need to revise the pulley, etc. keep it stock, just do the ECU upgrade, you’ll be very happy!

Great car

Bought it 6 1/2 years ago. Still looks great. Maintenance is a bit expensive, but well worth it. Runs great, averages about 20 mpg (premium). Only seats 2, though. Best type of convertible with a hard top.

Excellent handling and smooth ride

I love two passenger sports cars and this car is top notch. The seven speed automatic transmission is ultra smart. It even down shifts for me when needed such as going down steep curves in the mountains. Looks great with the top down. Fit and finish is excellent. My suggestions for improvement is less use of cheap plastics on interior components such as latches for glove boxes, visors, etc. This is a universal problem with German cars.

Sl500 & S500

Love my car and my wife won't part with hers ether. Will always drive a Mercedes. Makes me happy with top down an smoking a good cigar. (Cuban) of course. Love color...capre blue and AMG wheels with mitchin tires rides so smooth.

I have had this 2005 Mercedes for almost 10 years. It has far exceeded my expectations. Besides being a joy to drive, the maintenance costs have not been near what I expected. People still approach me in the parking lot and rave about the style and look of this nearly 14 year old car. Amazing.

SL 500 2005

I bought this car used from a MB dealership less than a year ago. It was a replacement for an 350SLK that got flooded and was in mint condition. This car looked great, felt solid and appeared to be babied. I checked out the MB maintenance list and it was great. The car when working performs better than expected. Then after the first week... I needed to repair the roof drive unit. The second, the engine seals. The third, the roof hoses. Then two months ago I needed to repair the ESP. This week the high pressure hoses for the ABC blew. If you get this car beware - hoses, seals, & plastics will be breaking down and need to be replaced for big $$$$. Find a good mechanic and make sure you get the extended warranty - not that it will cover these things, but it helps with some of them!!

Love my SL

BEST VEHICLE PURCHASE IVE EVER MADE! Ive owned a few high-end luxury vehicles, this one is by far the best fit of it me. It is fun to drive, I call it the Corvette slayer. I recommend the SL500 to anyone interested in a luxury performance convertible.
