Stylish, technologically sophisticated and efficient
I previously owned a Santa Fe, which I sadly finally gave up after 14 years. The new Santa Fe model is beautiful, but with a long commute, I wanted a gas efficient vehicle and to stay within a certain price range since we have multiple teens approaching driver age and needing vehicles.
The Tucson had a lot of similarities in size and scale as my 2011 Santa Fe. I ended up choosing the hybrid as well even though I was torn on the much cooler blue color of non hybrid on lot. Since then I’ve become very happy with my dark marine blue Tucson with its light gray interior (yes it is more risky for stains but helps with heat in our very hot summers.
One of my favorite things about Hyundais is their backseat ac vents. Critical for us when kids were little & reason I bought my 2011 Santa Fe versus Subaru . Glad to see they kept the vents in back and nice charging ports .
I’m loving the large screen display and the perks of having the Hyundai Bluelink complimentary to current purchases. It is so nice to have lane departure, back up camera and collision warning. I love the digital key option and tracking vehicle status to verify I turned car off (new to hybrid and they are so quiet!), lock it remotely and even start up A/C or heat prior to getting in car while keeping it locked. It is amazing option and can even link to my Hyundai finance to track payments.
The hybrid does very well on steady long drives, moderate in traffic and short drives. I am currently only getting gas once every week and a half or almost 2 weeks whereas I used to get it once a week. The pick up on vehicle is nice and I love that display shows you when you are in electric and keeps track of your miles per gallon with the hybrid driving.
The hands free is very easy to use. I love the volume control on wheel as well as the push button on wheel to complete hands free texting and responses! Such an upgrade. Sirius XM was complimentary and automatically found my existing account. Easy peasy Sirius contacted me to add vehicle but honor my free courtesy period!! How cool!
Cargo space is decent and I love the trunk layout and access. Other exterior items are the very cool headlights, good winds wood wipers and I like the window size and views. I like the storage set up in front with a ledge to use for phones or glasses although it would have been nice to have one on ceiling.
I also like display showing school zones and speed limits although it sometimes lags and appreciate posting my speed limit in red when over! I also love how it automatically engages parking brake when on slope.
Only small complaints are some weird feeling in driving as I think it shifts between electric and combustion. When there is system upgrade, your car play on phone may not work for a bit which can be annoying.
A little more lumbar adjustment in seat would be helpful. Also was super excited about the phone charging pad in front console but it gets super hot so I’m not sure about it and often just use charging cord on front panel.
All in all I’m very happy with this vehicle and while I miss “lil Red”- my 2011 Santa Fe, I am enjoying my new “lil Inky” 2025 Tucson Hybrid! And the dealer has been great! Hyundai of Leander does a great job from sales, finance and service departments!
