2023 Genesis GV70 Review

Overall this is a fantastic vehicle. The value is perhaps the best in class, probably the best period. Genesis offers a lot of bang for the buck. This is a performance luxury SUV. I often tell my friend it is an SUV that thinks it is a sport car. Wonderful blend of style and performance.

Luxury SUV flaws

While we are still exited about our 2023 Genesis GV70 Sport Prestige, we are also disappointed. The vehicle has 18,100 miles! Let’s start with the headlights. During a December 2024 rain storm I drove my GV70. We hardly ever take it in the rain or bad weather, but this time we did. When I parked the vehicle in the garage, the left light housing was filled with water. I called the dealer, they inspected the lights and ordered a new part. In mid February the light was in and a part for the seat cooling/heating (from September 2024) had also come in. The dealer picked up the vehicle. It was returned in the afternoon, and they tell me they did a gasoline pump replacement, when I asked why, when this was done in August, they said it was a recall. The inside of vehicle smelled like gasoline. They said it would disappear in a few days. A week later, it still smelled like gasoline. I called the dealer and they said to wait a few more days, I said no! When they took the vehicle to replace the light, it smelled like “new”! They need to take it and clean the gasoline smell. Now my vehicle smells like carpet shampoo instead of new! The front windshield…. The smallest stone hits the glass and it cracks! We have a 2003 Ford Taurus, a 2005 Town & Country, a 2007 Suzuki SX4, a 2014 Lexus CT200h, non of these vehicles have cracked windshields! They are all over 120,000 miles some with 180,000 and have traveled all over the country, yet their windshields are intact! I believe the Genesis glass is of lower quality, even though we paid premium dollars for it!

Love car, hate service

During purchasing, I was promised dealer plates and paperwork to register car in my state. It took more than 10 calls and 4 months to finally get the car registered. During purchase, I was promised valet service, then later given uber vouchers, then to nothing at all. Without any notification with each change. At purchasing I was promised 3 year’s worth of complimentary maintenance. Before end of third year, this was also taken away without notice. During the last oil change, the parts related to portion of turbo engine were not correctly put back together. I had to return to dealership multiple times to have it corrected, also paying for uber each time, except the last bc the service agent felt bad, therefore it was delivered. I have enjoyed the car but have learned thru the purchasing and servicing experience, it isn’t worth it. I will not purchase another Genesis.

Love My GV70

This vehicle is exceptional. Love everything about it, especially how smooth the ride is and the seats are so comfortable. I get good gas mileage with it. I’m very pleased with this vehicle and hoping they make a hybrid. The vehicle has plenty of room in it.

Really a nice vehicle, some issues.

Looks fantastic, drives really well. Fuel tank way too small! Dealer is fair at best, not congruent with luxury level vehicle. Fuel mileage just fair, powertrain smooth. Knurled control knobs look great but not easy to control. Wireless Airplay well received - works good.

Love my Genesis!!!

Since purchasing our Genesis GV 70 I have loved driving and owning this vehicle. It’s easy to drive, looks great, performs well, and has so much technology and cameras. I have recommend Genesis to many people and would be a return customer. I always get lots of compliments on my car!!! Plus Ryan Verville, the service manager at Genesis Sarasota, is the best!!!!

Well designed vehicle with some shortcomings

Overall it’s a well designed vehicle. Interior materials and layout and driving dynamics are amongst the top highlights. Down sides have been around how some elements are holding up after only 15k miles and 2 years…the dark chrome trim oxidizing, headlight lens delaminating from the housing and then we’ve had to have some of the service bulletins handled eg. cold start injector and drivetrain whine. A bit disappointing for a car at this price point and even more disappointing based on our dealership experience.

Great looking inside and out, excellant performance and features

Bought it new and have no plans to move from it anytime soon. Excellant value, I've recommended it to many people. The turbo 4 has plenty of power and gets decent if not the best mpg for the segment. Plenty of space in second row and cargo area. Superior build to others in it's class.

Great speed and performance. The exterior design is very sporty. The vehicle is loaded with features! Those added details led to my purchase. I am satisfied with my vehicle and would consider purchasing a newer model! I thought the car was priced appropriately for the make & model.

Great suv with only a few changes needed

I love my GV70. It drives very well, is comfortable and fun. I would like to see a few upgrades: more powerful brakes, improved lane centering, leather seats that don't turn dark from bluejeans and dealerships that provide annual maintenance and not just maintenance based upon mileage. Mileage could be improved. I love the suv and would recommen its purchase to anyone. Don't just look at the manufacturer's name, you need to test drive it.

Consider Genesis as still up and coming, they are like other brands

Initially the car was solid. Although once you start to service the car, you get treated as if you are at a Kia dealership. Service managers over promise and under deliver. Car has started to have interior squeaks and rattles after 12K miles, and exterior parts are starting to show premature wear and chips. Other brands have figured this out, but not Genesis, they are still experimenting with new parts and materials.

Review of my GV70

I would buy again. I have had no problems with this vehicle. The heating and cooling elements contribute to the comfort of driving. I do find that switching between users creates issues since when changed from one to another. The seat often resets and has to be over-ridden manually.

Beauty and Safety!

I purchased my GV70 brand new and love driving it!!! I was drawn to the car by it's beautiful sleek design, intelligence, and safety features, delivering a smooth and luxurious ride. The color I chose is exceptional as it has flecks and always shines in the sun. The rims and tire are a low profile and are magnificent for my sporty look which is very striking. Just beautiful!!

My all time favorite car

Ive owned 15-18 cars and this is the most fun and coolest car of the bunch. The power, styling, reliability are among the top features. I have driven 3600 miles to and from AZ with comfort. I still get compliments and inquiries about the car. I definitely recommend.

Best vehicle I’ve ever owned

I have owned many vehicles in my 66 years of life vehicles in the 70s that were muscle cars SUVs pick up trucks the whole gambit of different vehicles in my whole life. And I would rate the Genesis GV 70 is one of the absolute best, most luxurious, most comfortable vehicles I have ever owned.

I love new technology

My genesis GV 70 is a dependable vehicle that young and old would love driving. It is very futuristic looking and has great lines. The ride comfort is amazing and there’s plenty of room for storage in the back. I really appreciate the safety technologies that the GV 70 sport prestige has. The blind side cameras are incredible as well as all the other cameras that help when I’m using the vehicle. The price value of this GV 70 is exceptional. You get much more for your money than you would buying another vehicle with all of the upgrades that this has. Genesis, When are you going to make a truck?

Great, but....

Great ride and features. Power and luxury have impressed. Love everything except valet service option not transferring to second owner. The fact that I do not get this service just because I was not the original owner is completely wrong. The manufacturer should stand behind its original offering.
