Access Cab 2TR-FE 5MT 4WD SR5-DLT (Dad's Last Truck, and a DLT for my kids)
My first Toyota truck (and first new vehicle)was a 1984 Longbed Deluxe 2wd 22R 5MT. My second was spec'd by Dad the same as I would have, and he drove it the last time we fished together. Barcelona Red came home with me after his passing in 2021, and I've since added accessories that he would have appreciated (and accepted as gifts if they were his idea) including a Redline Tuning Hood QuickLift Elite kit, LC Engineering Performance exhaust header, All-Pro Off-Road bed stiffeners, HDPE tailgate liner, Bambeds, and more. TacomaWorld (dot com) and The Car Care Nut YouTube channel have been most helpful! The local Toyota dealers in WA-ID-MT have been great, too. Comfort and ride are comfortable for a truck, and the rear view camera is helpful in backing to a parking spot or trailer hitch. The Access Cab is great for dogs (their choice of side windows), hauling smaller individuals, groceries and other items, and the long bed (74"). This is a Second Generation Tacoma (2005-2015) that some agree looks good with Third Gen wheels. I've put about 12k miles on it, for a total just over 30k, and learned that mere age provides corrosion securing fasteners. Toyota trucks have been getting bigger so the Gen2 suits me fine, compared to the Gen3 (2016-2023), and the Gen4 (2024-?). I rate this Tacoma all tens, expecting this truck to ride like a truck, and retain many of the characteristics of those older trucks to provide durability, longevity, reliability, the firm ride that will keep you aware and awake, and carry your freight. Note that body-on-frame vehicles are prone to developing frame rust corrosion, and should be inspected annually, treated for corrosion protection (NHOU, Krown, Fluid Film etc,), with frame plugs installed after application. Read the manual... AMD says that Toyota's philosophy is "If it works well, don't change it!" and stick to OEM parts.
