Our experience has been horrible - the dealership & vehicle problems.
The dealership & buying experience was the worst. I did submit a complaint & detailed description of our purchase experience in my Customer Service case #40829917. Also, the length of time to get an appointment with the service department was a month. We have never had to wait that long for a service appointment for any other car that we owned. The case also includes issues we are having with the vehicle. We have a great deal of problems with hesitation on this vehicle. We always turn the ISG (Idle Stop & Go) off every time we get in the car but it still intermittently does not move when we step on the gas to go at a red light or stop sign, etc. It doesn’t move for a second or two then lurches forward. It did this within the first 10 days we owned it & it continues to do this from time to time. It is less than 3 months old and has less than 1,000 miles on it. Even when we are just driving along, the engine will sort of hesitate and then jerk forward. It is not a smooth driving car!
The engine in this vehicle is not powerful enough for its size and weight. Pulling onto a highway is dangerous. Just on 6/7/25, we were trying to pull onto a busy highway with a very short entry ramp. This is an entry ramp that never has light traffic. You just have to merge in between fast-moving vehicles. We had to practically stop before there was a slight break in traffic where we could merge in. The car barely moved when we hit the gas. You have to floor the gas and the engine struggles to pick up speed. It took too long to get up to the speed of traffic and we almost caused an accident. The acceleration on this Tucson is horrible!
Climate control should be buttons and not a touch screen. The icons are not very visible because they are so small & not bright white & well defined against the black screen. If it's daylight, you simply can’t see them. Also, the black screen attracts dust & once it is dusty you can’t see much of anything through the dust. It is very distracting to try to change a setting while driving. Buttons and dials were much more intuitive to use: turn a dial left to decrease air flow, right to increase, etc. Trying to make out these tiny icons to adjust settings while driving is dangerous.
We purchased a vehicle that supposedly had a gray interior. The seats are white for all practical purposes. If we are outside working in the garden, which we do frequently, and need to run to the store for something, we need to put a sheet over the seat so it won’t get dirty. It is so annoying. At least some of the handles and places where you touch are black but the lid to the center console – which we use a lot, is white. Why wouldn’t the center console be black? It is an armrest.
If you are waiting in the car with the engine off and with accessory mode on, you can’t operate the windows to open and close them. You have to turn the car on to open or close windows. That is not practical. Also, you can't use your phone to check email and listen to the radio at the same time when in accessory mode. If you try to use the phone to check email, the radio quits.
The ride is also a problem. It rides like a truck and the seats are very bouncy. You feel every bump and imperfection in the road.
The dash has way too many icons on it that pop up (speed limit signs, school zone, merge, etc.) It’s way too distracting.
I owned a 2005 Hyundai Tucson and that was a wonderful experience. This vehicle is a huge disappointment.
