Great first EV

The Ioniq 6 is easy to handle and quick. The interior is roomy with plenty of headroom (I'm 5' 8"). There are a lot of features for a very reasonable price.

amazing car, but alerts need refinement

Functionally and ride wise, I love this car dearly. The sensors for parking seem to need some refinement, as they do not always seem to work especially on the front (eg, saying collision is imminent in error or saying you are too close to another car even if 3 or 4 ft back)

Designed For Short People

The ergonomics of the driver seat and steering wheel is designed for short people. I am not short and the steering wheel does not extend far enough for me to drive comfortably for long periods of time when the seat is placed where it needs to be for my legs. And the dash controls end up being too far away when I place seat where it needs to be for my legs. I have to lean forward out of my seat to reach the touch screen media console. And my arms, shoulders, and neck are strained every day I commute to work. I will not be keeping this vehicle. I may not even go to the end of my lease. It is that uncomfortable.

Great car, interesting quirks

I got this car for three reasons, price, fast charging, and range. My Ioniq 6 has exceeded all my expectations there. It's a smooth driving saloon of a car, has great acceleration and handling, and is comfortable on trips so it is all I need in a car. There are quirky things about the car that I haven't figured out though, like the car will unlock itself on approach sometimes, but others it will require me to use the key fob. It has an odd charger lock that I have yet to figure out how to unlock if the car is still charging. I'd also like it if the screens could be more customized. For example, the drivers display hides the speed and range behind your hands when they are at the 10 and 2 driving position. I also would like the infotainment screen to be more customizable where the radio/xm screen could be centered on the screen, and display the artist/song much larger so I can read it in any light. If would also be nice if the stereo screen could be selected so it shows at startup rather than the range screen (and then toggle to the other info). I'm also not a huge fan of the cruise assistance/lane keeping. The car does a beautiful job of merging to the right, but almost always threatens to put me in the median if I ask it to merge to the left. All of these technologies are secondary to my needs, and are knit picks for sure, overall the car is a joy, and I am lucky to have it.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 is the best vehicle ever

This car is so fun to drive, gets fantastic mileage (much better than my previous car, a hybrid), is so environmentally friendly, and was not a vehicle under the Musk/Tesla umbrella.

Excellent drivability

As with the ‘24 SE model, the 2025 SEL drives equally as well. It has a few more nice features, such as built in garage door opener, charging for cell phones, nicer seats, auto-dimming rear view mirror. A bit less distance, but still in the high 200s… typically about what it’s rated at.. 294. Adjustable lumbar support.

Nice car with some baffling choices

Overall this is a nice car to drive. The three versions are a bit strange in pricing and what you get. What is really strange is the car's system. None of the Ioniq 6 supports wireless CarPlay/Android Auto yet the Tuscon does which is a much cheaper car, you must plug in. Additionally there is no way to automatically switch to CarPlay when you plug in your phone to make use of it. You also have an advisory to confirm every single time you start up your car. While you can ignore it and it goes away after a bit, it's really odd that you can't permanently dismiss it. The charging scheduler makes no sense, you can not simply say "Only charge during these times" you MUST first say when you think you'll start driving each day in order to take advantage of charging only during certain times. To get around this just set your schedule to start driving right after your want your car to charge (i.e. if you get better rates from 12am to 3pm, tell the car you depart every day at 12:30am). You shouldn't have to do this for something that should be so straight forward but you do. The manual suggests to save power you use recycled air but unlike most other cars you must turn this on every single time you turn on the car rather than leaving it and letting the air management decide to turn it off for certain cases (or on if going in a tunnel). The front of the car sensors are way too sensitive. Thankfully there is a button to turn them off. If you are going through a drive through expect to hear them non stop. Oddly too at a stop light they'll randomly alert then stop, maybe start again for a beep. If you ever park in an uneven lot expect a quick flash of the sensors as well. On a similar note sometimes the steering wheel sensor thinks you're not holding the steering wheel. I keep my hands firmly at the 10 and 2 grips and it started flashing at me on a drive to keep my hands on the wheel. A quick repositioning made it stop but had to keep doing it. The rear sensors are probably the best. Nice visual and at times audio cues that are accurate to traffic around you. Although a bit annoying if traffic is heavy and you're just signaling to other drivers to please let you merge over despite the traffic and it's beeping and buzzing (if you have haptic sensors enabled on the steering wheel). The rear seat safety belt holders being a cut out notch in the trim is a cheap looking and feeling design decision. I'd rather it not be there at all. The sound system is really not great. It overly emphasizes bass at all levels. The mid levels sound strange and distant until you turn up the speakers to be quite loud (around 30). I've read the Bose system in the Limited is not much better. The back seat area is very spacious, more leg room than in a 2025 Tuscon small SUV. I have been told it feels a bit bouncy when the front seats feel quite stable. The front trunk is kinda pointless. It is about the size of a one year stack of magazines. The glove compartment is oddly massive. The front wipers do pull away from the windshield but you can not flip them up from their natural down position as it just hits the hood. Very strange, not that you need to pull them up too often outside of cleaning. I was concerned about uphill acceleration. Where I live there is a short uphill on ramp that I routinely have to take. Older cars I had if you didn't time it right would struggle to hit 55 by the merge and its a 65 zoned highway. My previous car though was an Infiniti G37 coupe which was great with acceleration. This car handles the uphill merge in Eco mode quite well and not by means of having to floor it. The front head lights could be "up" a bit more. While not blinding other drivers is good, it focuses greatly on illuminating the road but if you're concerned about seeing people or animals crossing in the distance the light is really not angled up enough to see that well. The auto bright is not very reliable/usable.

I dont know what you are asking

Too much power for what I need. I would have preferred a wheel drive but was told Hyundai isn't selling them in Colorado. Too many bells and whistles. I prefer that is simpler. I have turned off the steering and the consider taking a break message as they are annoying. The car is fun to drive and feels solid. Im still getting used to the estimated mileage- when I turned on the seat heat and deforster the mileage dropped 50 miles in 5 seconds. That is disconcerting especially when you are relying on the car to drive 300 miles and all of a sudden it appears that it can't.

Almost perfect

The vehicle performs exceptionally well. The only complaint I could muster against the Ioniq 6 is that the interior layout of the ports you’d use for connecting electronics is frustrating. Either lacking in areas you’d expect ports to be located or ports in less than helpful positions. Everything else? Great 👍🏼

Ioniq 6 review

I am happy with the car mechanically but I would have to say that the software is very lacking. First it’s a very clunky and hard to navigate to find settings. First to not have the seats and the mirrors not to adjust to the driver then there is really no need to have different drivers since it doesn’t remember seat settings. 2nd to have to reset I-pedal each time is definitely a safety issue since you are used to the deceleration the first stop you come next drive can get real ugly fast. The speed that MyHyundai unlock the doors is pathetic. Not having the option to lock one front doors instead of only driver or all is pathetic also. Having the front windows on the console instead of on the door like the rear doors and ever other car in the world makes no sense. The heated seats should be individually on the console instead of having basically 3 steps to get to them on the screen is pathetic also. Opening the rear trunk if you unlock the doors the trunk should also unlock like every other car made. Not having the heated seats tie into the pre climate makes no sense either. Not being able to adjust the driver attention settings or the car learning the difference depending on the driver is dumb also. Not having the 12volt battery charge when the car is plugged in not sometimes 1 hour after the car finishes charging.

I am really enjoying my new Ioniq 6. I have leased it for 2 years. Since I have been driving a little less, I probably should have leased it for 3 years.

Excellent choice for local (but not long distance) travel

I mostly drive my ionic 6 not more than 10 to 30 miles per day and use the 120 V charger which keeps it sufficiently charged for this amount of driving. I have had the car about two months and I’m still learning all of the amazing technology that is in this car. It drives very smoothly and easily. I do not recommend an EV for long distance travel because our infrastructure simply does not provide enough charging stations, and the ones that are available are very pricey.
