Verified CustomerHi Scott, aftermarket batteries cannot be programmed to the vehicle. Overtime your Targa had adapted to reduced charging performance from the decaying battery. If an aftermarket battery was used, the car would not know that the battery is new and would still function as if it had the original battery installed. Newer vehicles are very sensitive to charging issues due to the multitude of computers, and it is important to use genuine parts to keep your vehicle operating as designed. And just a reminder that we quoted you for the battery with tax/programming over the phone before you brought the vehicle in for the battery.
