Ben, you came in to have your vehicle diagnosed for an intermittent squeaking noise, that you believed to be a belt. We specifically told you that we were unable to duplicate the noise but after visually inspecting the belts, we came to the conclusion that one of your two belts, the water pump belt, needed to be replaced. We then told you what we found and you agreed to pay the amount for repairs. The bill came to $459.03 to replace this belt, the cabin air filter, and the oil and oil filter. We also specified with you that since we could not duplicate the noise, we could not be 100% certain that this belt was the cause of the noise. Our visual inspection determined that the belt was in need of replacement, regardless of whether or not it was the source of the noise. The two other services were provided based on our 29 point inspection after receiving your authorization for the work. The other expenses you accrued when you chose to take the vehicle to be inspected at the dealership after we spoke to you and let you know that we would gladly reexamine your vehicle, free of charge, to see what was still causing the noise. You chose to not take our offer and instead take it elsewhere. That was your choice to pay the extra $600+ when we could have taken care of your vehicle for no extra cost. We also offered to discount any additional work that your vehicle might need for your troubles. All of our work has a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty that you chose not to utilize.

If you get an estimate for a transmission service at another local shop that comes in lower we could match that for you and issue a partial refund if necessary.
