Beautiful truck, amazing gas mileage, terrible windshield!

I had been researching the Santa Cruz for a little over 1 year prior to my purchase. I have to say, I'm mostly satisfied. My wife drives an Elantra SEL. I purchased the SEL Activity Santa Cruz and have less features than what she does. Not having adaptive cruise control was a bit of a shock. I assumed it had it considering my wife's Elantra does and is one step down in package. The windows are TERRIBLE! I've owned it less than 3 months and 2 miniscule rocks cracked the windshield immediately. The sliding back window also cracked overnight. Not sure how as it was sitting in front of my home. I have a Ring camera and there were no people that were near the truck either. When I went to go get a new windshield, it is going to be almost $1,000 and I don't have any rain sensing, heated, etc. It is just a normal windshield. While the truck is absoultely stunning and has great gas mileage, I am extremely unhappy with the glass. Had I known it was as weak as it is, I would've explored other options after spending as much as I did. Also, purchased it in Chambersburg and only received a 2 month inspection, that should've been my sign.

2025 Santa Cruz Limited

No issues after 3000 miles. Has pulled my 4500lb boat and trailer with ease. Pulls boat and trailer out of the water with no issues. Had the 2024 limited but really wanted the tow haul capability available in the 2025 model.

The safety brake feature can cause an accident

I understand that the safety brake feature is meant to avoid a potential auto collision, but the sensors are extremely sensitive and have almost gotten me rear ended on the freeway twice due to the harsh stop. This makes me feel uncomfortable in the car.

Great vehicle from an okay Brand

The Santa Cruz fills a niche left empty in the US since the discontinuance of the Subaru Baja. A small 4-door with a truck bed that's perfect for city life. More manufacturers needs to take note of the success of this vehicle type and offer competition.
