Pop-out door handles are poor choice. if left unlocked in a parking lot it is obvious to anyone who might want to break in . When automatic steering is engaged, it might be a good idea to sound an alarm (beep?) if it disengages.

A good car with room for growth

Overall, I’m satisfied with my purchase, but there’s room for improvement in several areas. For example: soundproofing could be better, the paint quality is somewhat prone to scratches, the audio system could be upgraded, and some interior materials and plastic for handle feel a bit cheap. Additionally, the parking sensors occasionally have glitches. With these refinements, the car would be even better.

Some odd design faults. The front sensors constantly beep, then turn off then beep whenever the car is at a stop light. I dont believe they work at all in identifying how close/far away an object is. They just go off if the car isn't moving or barely moving. The door handles are designed to constantly get scratched since they stick out a further 3 inches from the car door itself. The air vents are not directional left or right, just up and down. The window buttons in the center next to the cup holder is a bad design flaw. Cups constantly accidentally lower windows. Not being able to set the automatic braking default to zero is a large annoyance. Overall range gauge is always off by at least 20 miles.

It's a whole different experience

I'd never driven an EV before leasing this car. I've had a number of sports cars in the past but this is a whole different world! The car is very comfortable, drives wonderfully, and accelerates like a bat out of heck! Never having to stop at a gas station again just makes it all that much better. I was a bit hesitant about an EV - range anxiety, how to "fill" it up, etc. - but I have zero regret about getting this car. They're scarce as hens teeth but work the search.

Plenty of power, some basic autonomous driving capabilities. Quick charging. Really not happy with the sound system, I think the speakers will need an upgrade, much worse than my previous car.

Far exceeded my expectations. My first EV and I’m loving it.

The design of the Ioniq 6 was well appointed. All controls are within reach. I’m over 6’ tall and I have an amazing amount of legroom and headroom. Smooth ride. Great controls. Excellent user interface on large screens. Charging has been great and I really have embraced the generative breaking. Well done Hyundai!

Overall good experience. The app needs work.

There is a lot to like about the ioniq 6, build quality control layout, etc. however the app needs work. It is not very responsive and appears to be a web app in a wrapper. Coming from the Tesla and having written some software I am unclear why app commands are issues as “requests” that can take up to 2 minutes. Things like locking doors and climate controls should be much faster.

Hyundai ioniq 6 is a great car for first time EV buyers

Hyundai ioniq 6 is a great car for first time EV buyers. The ergonomics are like a normal gas car, meaning there are buttons and familiar gauges unlike other EV that only rely on screens. Driving the ioniq 6 is a real pleasure. It drives more comfortable with better suspension than a Tesla model 3, yet is sporty enough with superior handling in comparison to the Hyundai ioniq 5. The rear seat legroom is significant better than a Tesla model 3. Build quality is just as good as the ioniq 5 and vastly superior than Tesla, build materials are average though. The biggest drawback and complaint for ioniq 6 is the rear trunk space is smaller than Tesla model 3 and the frunk is tiny. The infotainment is easy to use but the software and maps is a bit behind Tesla, fortunately using android auto or apple carplay will alleviate this. Overall with these minor gripes aside, with impressive ride quality, charging speed, and good driving range, the ioniq 6 is a great EV for everyone.
