2023 Genesis G70 Review
Let me be clear in saying that I LOVE my Genesis. However, I do NOT love the frequent visits to the dealer for unexpected issues or the AWFUL customer service I have received from Genesis of Auburn, Massachusetts. I've actually contemplated completely ridding myself of the car because of how difficult every experience with the service advisors is.
I bought my car brand new from Genesis of Arlington, but bring it for service in Auburn since it's the closest to me. It has always been properly maintained and babied. I began experiencing mechanical issues in October 2024 where my car would essentially go into limp mode (unable to accelerate past 40mph while the RPMs rose). It would happen randomly and it was not only extremely frustrating, but dangerous to have that happen in the middle of driving. Over the course of a couple months, I brought my vehicle in 3 separate times in an effort to repair the issue because nobody could figure out what it was. This is multiple times of losing my patience, losing time at work, spending gas money, etc. Not to mention, loaner availability is IMPOSSIBLE. For someone who works two jobs and is constantly on the go, it is extremely inconvenient to be told I would have to either wait weeks/months at a time for a loaner when my car isn't drivable (at 2 years old). The third time I brought my vehicle in to attempt that repair, I dropped it off with a service advisor who instructed another employee to take it for a test drive to feel out the issues. That same employee later "joked" around with me, saying "don't worry, I got it to go over 60mph" indicating he was abusing his privilege in romping on a customer's car. I was beyond livid. Finally, the mechanics were able to locate the issue and the repair was made. However, upon picking my car up that day on March 11, 2025, all of the parking sensors were non-functional. It is now May 23, 2025, and this repair has yet to be fixed. I brought my car in on April 21, 2025 in an attempt to replace the broken sensor. I sat for 1.5 hours only to be told they actually required another part to make the full repair, but would have to order it. Since then, I have attempted to book with Genesis of Auburn to make this repair, only to be met with the typical "we have no loaners". I refuse to pay out of pocket for a rental or Uber to go to work because of a problem the dealership caused my car to have. I made an appointment with Genesis of Framingham to re-diagnose my car and complete the parking sensor repair through them, but when I got there on the morning of, they informed me I would have to pay out of pocket because they shouldn't have to take a loss for the damage Genesis of Auburn inflicted. When I learned this, I reached out to Genesis corporate for some help in reaching out to Auburn to get an appointment scheduled, hoping they could land a loaner for me. I was wrong. Instead, I am required to pay out of pocket for a rental (to be reimbursed later), but because I am 23 years old (not 25), the rental agencies charge a fee, putting me over the allotted $80.00 per day threshold (leaving me responsible for payment). Every direction I turn to try and get this issue fixed has been nothing short of infuriating. As much as I love the vehicle itself, I don't think I would ever buy another one due to the treatment I have received as a Genesis customer. It's an extreme let down.
