er in to AISD for testing at age 8 and she was identified as clearly dyslexic. Lauren and her staff worked with my daughter twice a week during the school year for three years. Before beginning she could not reliably read three letter words. She loved her tutor, who used positive success-based strategies. (Who wants to fail more after already failing a lot? With success-based strategies she not only succeeded daily, but also learned rapidly. ) After two years she was able to read her first chapter book (Magic Tree House) and read lots of them. After six months she began reading larger books, and is now, at almost three years, happily reading the first Harry Potter book. Yes, she is 11, but without Lauren and her staff's intervention she would still be frustrated by three letter words. Their technique combines positive success-based methods (helping make the answers more obvious) with specific enumeration of the many rules of English spelling and pronunciation we all take for granted, Think "i before e" x 100.
