Hi Don, After reading this review I became concerned and wanted to check into this issue. I reviewed the history report and spoke with Matthew and the technician that inspected your car. You brought your car in with a concern of the "reduced power" light. We performed a diagnostic computer scan and there was a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) for "engine coolant overtemp" This was the cause of your concern.
Every car that comes in the shop recieves a comprehensive inspection which includes a battery test. We believe that its important for you to be awair of the overall condition of your car. Although your car has low mileage, it's fourteen years old and is past due for many factory recommended services. Also the coolant level was low caused by the water pump leaking coolant. (This is the cause for the DTC.) Whenever a vehicle has been overheated we recommend replacing the thermostat as well as whatever caused the coolant loss and overheat. (this is a preventative maintanance thing)
The normal life of an automotive battery is about two to three years in the southwest due to the heat and dry climate. Yours has reached that age and it failed the battery test.
We strive to provide excellent customer service and in our opinon, we did exacty that. The estimate you recieved was for all of the past due services, and the cooling system issue along with a battery. We are not the cheapest shop in the area but we, along with most of our customers, believe that the quality of service and workmanship that we provide is well worth it. We just wanted to provide you with the information you deserve to make an informed decision regarding your car.
