Bad service
Is a $6000 auto repair for a $13,600 car a rip off?
I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this but I just want to understand why this auto shop was charging me almost half the price of my car. So I recently got into a car accident and I took it to this auto repair shop and it's been sitting there for a week now. My insurance told me the estimate is $2500. The guy at the shop said he would help so I wouldn't have to pay as much once he talked to my insurance. As of three days ago, he said he was going to charge me $6000 to fix it and $100 a day for the time it's been there. I was told by the mechanic that it's because the insurance only looks at the damages from the exterior and once he inspected the inside he would give me a final estimate. It seems like a lot of money for such a small and cheap car. If I were to take it to a dealership he would still charge me for the time it's been there. Any advice on what I should do?
