Engine blew up 350 miles from home after only 3 weeks and multiple return trips back to garage
We love Kellers and the people that work there. However, after we were recommended to replace our engine (cheaper than a new truck) we trusted Kellers to do it. We gave the go ahead multiple times over the spring and summer but never heard back. Finally in May we call again and got Sharon (she’s great). Finally the motor has been ordered and in the beginning of June we turn in the truck for installation. We pick it up a week later (a week with 3 kids and no vehicle sucks) and start driving. At ever stage of this process I let it be known that I had a a camping trip scheduled in which I would be towing my camper trailer. I was reassured that it would be fine to do so. So we pick up the truck and a strange grinding noise starts to happen. We take it back to Keller, “it’s just a vacuum seal” ok. I get it back drive another week (just prior to our trip) and the heat and oil sensors start pinging. Take it back again, once again emphasize about my trip and am told it must have been an air bubble. So reassured again take the truck home and start getting ready for our trip. Understand that the motor we had been advised to replace had towed this trailer to Nebraska and back 4 times the previous summer, so of course a new shiny engine could handle Northern Wyoming no problem, right? WRONG! Just 5 miles from our destination the engine implodes. It took us 2 1/2 hours to go five miles. Luckily we managed to crawl to our site before to truck completely gave out. We had it towed the next morning to a shop in Gillette, which after a few days and $700 later told us the head gasket had blown and the Jasper engines sucked and he would not work on it. So we had to have it towed to another shop where it will sit until the end of July when they hopefully get a new engine from Jasper. Oh, and come to find out that Jasper will only cover $75 per hour in labor, but the only mechanic we found to work on our truck charges $125 per hour. So only a few weeks after having spent $10,000 on an engine Keller recommended I am going to have to spend at least another $900 to $1000 on the same f*^king engine! And the is nothing compared to all of the other expenses we incurred being stranded over 300 miles from home. I could go on, but I am really too tire to continue
