Cracked oil pan replacement
I trust the mechanics at the Herky Miller garage to be honest and forthright.

My car was leaking oil that I could see on the ground under my car and the only fix was an oil pan replacement. It required 6 hours of labor because the oil pan is difficult to access, so I was told.

While I rather hated to dish out over $1000 to repair, the repair was necessary. And All car repairs are expensive.

The work was done right and done in a timely manner. Which I appreciate.

Addie is the office manager and is greatest who runs a very “tight ship” down there!. 😁 Herky is quite communicative and gives me good advice. Austin was nice on the phone.

Easy In, Easy Out
Scheduling for an emissions and inspection was easy and I was able to get an appointment within a few days. Dropped off my car in the evening using their drop box and picked it up in the early afternoon. Prices are reasonable and the staff were cordial and accommodating.

Stands by their work
Herky replaced my brake pads and rotors six months ago and I had a minor squeaking problem with the pads. I brought it in and he replaced the pads without any charge and within 45 minutes. All my experiences have been positive at Herky Miller.

The DMV decided I needed a new license plate but I couldn’t get the old one off because it was rusted. I didn’t have an appointment but Herky did it anyway. Short amount of time and a small fee and a huge help to me! Thanks again Herky and staff!!

Parking brake problem with brand-new, powder-coated rear brake rotors
After discussing the situation that occurred, I have determined that the use of powder-coated brake rotors, for the rear brakes on either of my cars (both of them manual transmission vehicles), is not advised, as brand-new, powder-coated rotors have too slippery a surface for the parking brake shoes to "grab" and effectively hold the cars on the steep street and driveways where the cars are parked. Knowing this, I can now make different choices for future brake work.

Rear brake replacement left parking brake inoperative
State inspection revealed the need to replace the rear disc brake pads and rotors. The new rotors were powder-coated to help reduce corrosion effects. However, the powder coating was so slippery that the parking brake shoes would not grab on the interior of the rotor drums and would not hold the car on the hill on which I live. The mechanic should have checked that the parking brakes would hold the car on a hill, but did not. Mechanic should have sanded down powder coating on inside of new rotors to permit parking brake shoes to grab, but did not. I was instructed to drive short distances with the parking brake applied one notch to wear down the powder coating on the new rotors., This "solution" may have solved the problem, but is not something i should have had to do. I would strongly prefer that the mechanic who performed this work not work on my car in the future.
