Avoid Haselwood Hyundai at All Costs — Incompetent, Dishonest, and Disrespectful
This was my first — and absolutely LAST — time bringing my car to Haselwood Hyundai for repairs. I originally took my Hyundai in due to turbo issues, and from day one, it was a disaster.
Before doing any real work, the mechanic told me I had to pay for an oil consumption test — which is not cheap — even though it was obvious the turbo could be the cause. Sure enough, after they finally replaced the turbo, the oil issue disappeared. Felt like a scam from the start. I even called the mechanic out on it, and he admitted I was right. That says everything.
Then came the ECM debacle. After the turbo was replaced, they said I needed a new ECM. Fine. But it took them over SIX WEEKS to realize it had to be coded to the VIN — something that’s been standard on Hyundai Santa Fes for nearly two decades. One of their own techs admitted no one there even knew that. Seriously??
They first blamed the issue on non-OEM parts. Later, they just came clean — their mechanic didn’t know how to code the ECM. My car ended up stuck at their shop for months because of sheer incompetence.
It gets worse.
When I dropped off the car, they told me the battery was fine. But after it sat in their care through the winter, they told me the battery had died and charged me $350 for a new one. I was never told I’d need to come in to start the car or disconnect the battery while it was in their hands. That made my blood boil.
When I questioned the battery charge, the manager (S.E.) was smug and borderline threatening. She said if money was an issue, I could replace the battery myself — but warned that if I made a mistake, I’d void the warranty. Then she added, “$90 doesn’t make or break the shop’s bank,” implying it might break mine. Condescending and completely unprofessional.
If that wasn't enough, personal items were stolen from my vehicle while it was sitting on their lot. S.E. claimed they reviewed the security footage — but are we really supposed to believe they combed through five months of video? Doubtful. They did leave my windshield de-icer and Trex cleats behind though… thanks?
When I finally got the car back, it was a mess. Greasy handprints on my tan interior — both the seat and ceiling — a nasty odor from sitting untouched for months, and a 3"x4" paint chip missing from the hood. Are you kidding me?
And then — because of course this story isn’t over — the check engine light came on the day after I got it home. Just 7 miles of driving. I called Haselwood Hyundai, and they told me they'd scan it — but if it wasn’t related to their repairs, I’d be charged again. That was the final insult.
Let me be clear: I love my Hyundai. It’s a great car. But after this experience with Haselwood Hyundai’s service department, I will never buy another Hyundai again. What’s the point of owning a good car if the company behind it doesn’t offer basic competence or customer respect?
Between the delays, the rudeness, the theft, the damage, and the complete lack of accountability — this was easily one of the worst service experiences I’ve ever had.
Save yourself the time, money, and stress. Avoid Haselwood Hyundai. They're incompetent, dishonest — and yes — dirty.

They were very helpful and kind, and they communicated well with me. I even noticed after getting my oil changed that they had accidentally made a mess on the ceiling of my car and they didn't hesitate to get it cleaned for me. Would definitely recommend!

On time service experence
But, after i was in for the appointment, I found out that the 30,000 mile package was no longer being offered, SO Ala cart was my only option, whis price our more then the package would have been..
Now my biggest gripe; when I went to pay, I was told that there would be a service charge if I used credit; WHaat, who carries THAT much cash without being forewarned, lucky for me, my debit card could be used without a Fee.. this is happing all over, but as usual the customer has to eat the charge.. The banks are ripping their customers off..

As usual, I found the staff very cordial and businesslike. Unfortunately, 2 days after my service, my battery completely shutdown and did not respond to re-charge. My car has been returned to the dealership to determine the problem and repair.

Fantastic Service!
Everyone was incredibly friendly. We walked through the door and were immediately greeted. Once we checked in for our appointment they were on top of it! Our person helping us was very detailed after our appointment about what we needed to do and what was getting done with the car. She was clear on everything getting charged or covered by warranty and it was incredibly helpful. Everyone was amazing and I will be coming back here again.

Excellent service experience after a challenging start
At first, I was really nervous about this dealership because my questions weren't answered even though I was shuffled to four different people (how much would a hitch installation cost, how much were the parts, were the parts there, and how long would it take). Another day, I was able to speak to Susanmarie, the Assistant Service Manager, who was able to answer all of my questions at one time. On the day of my service appointment, the department opened on time, was immaculate, efficient, and the waiting area was comfortable. Susanmarie kept me informed on the installation progress and patiently walked me through the invoice at the end. I highly recommend this service department!

Recall work
Took in for recall and the service writer had a $1500 list of work they wanted to do. These were maintenance items. They did not notice the front wheel bearing that needs repair. It didn’t feel right to me. The one repair it needed was missed. Then they tried to sell unnecessary things such as fuel injection cleaner. Transmission oil change ( it was done 15,000 miles ago)
This erodes the level trust with car dealers
