As far as the prices, I initially had my car in there for an alignment and to get the ac serviced. I also pointed out a squeaking from one of the belts. You guys charged me $60 to tighten the alternator belt. That's 2 bolts and takes 5 minutes.
While servicing the ac your shop called me to tell me there was an electrical issue and it would be $240 for an electrical diagnosis. I pointed out that it looked like the wire to the ac clutch was damaged, and in the end that turned out to be the problem. Tech installed a new connector to the ac clutch and that solved the problem. When I picked up the car, I questioned the $240 charge for the electrical diagnosis, and the man at the front desk told me the tech had to disassemble the ac compressor to replace the wire. I saw that this was not true because the new connector was butt spliced in. The tech that worked on the car did say he had to take the compressor off to repair the wire, but not disassemble it. Again, $240? You could've helped me out a little. I told you exactly what the problem was.
I understand you want to use your parts for warranty reasons(you get reimbursed by the manufacturer if the part fails) even when those parts are much more expensive than some of the best aftermarket parts available that come with a lifetime warranty. I would be hesitant on bringing such parts for fear that something might happen, i.e. a bolt happens to come loose one random day, and that fear is only reinstated after seeing a loose bolt and broken pulley on my vehicle after leaving your shop.
I've been trying to get this car going for my kid for the past 3 months, with every setback being due to a mechanic or machinist I went to for help. And after spending almost $3k at your shop for simple repairs, I'm having to fix stuff and now I have to double check what you guys repaired. The car is going to corpus and I won't be there to repair stuff if it fails. I really had high hopes when I found your shop.
