broke my heat shield mounting and I had to fix it myself
I'm not sure why they left my heat shield hanging and banging against my exhaust pipe but when I got home I put the car up on ramps and noticed that the heat shield directly above the pipe they replaced was hanging down and laying on the new pipe. I spent about a half hour fixing it myself and re-anchoring the heat shield to the under body. I should not have had to do that. They also should have explained to me why they didn't use the existing pipe flanges that were there, instead they just welded the downpie and midpipes together. It would have been nice to have a brief explanation as to what happened. Not a big deal.
This place is a little out of my way but I will no longer let that stop me from patronizing them. For the second time, they have resolved my issue and even invited me to inspect and see for myself how my “local” mechanic screwed me!
I’m an old guy that appreciates the good old fashioned down home kind of treatment I got from this place. And you can tell it’s instilled in them naturally.
Barbara was very thorough with the diagnostics information and provided a detailed quote of the repairs that were needed. It involved a broken / disconnected catalytic converter and other related codes. After a repair and a necessary tune up the vehicle is running like new with restored power. I returned the next day because the engine light came back on and the mechanic took care of it right away with a diagnostic reboot. 150 miles so far and no return of the check engine light. I’m sure if it does come back on they’ll be right on it.
