Andrew is great!
I brought my car in for an inspection and Andrew thoroughly showed me the problems that would lead to a failed inspection. He then walked me through options for tire placement and was super flexible and patient as I was trying to get an updated copy of my registration.

Deceptive practices
I contacted BTS Tire and Service regarding a repair on my 2022 Mazda CX-30. I was seeking a repair on my rear bumper. They were provided an insurance claim number over the phone and told us to bring the car in for assessment. They informed us that if they were unable to complete work on the bumper that they would have the car towed to a shop that could complete the body work. They told us that they work with Geico all the time and their should be no issue managing the claim. The car was dropped off with them on 2/17.

My wife received a call from them the next day saying that they could complete the bumper repair as well as other issues found with the vehicle (leaking tensioner and failing battery). They informed us that they were going to contact the insurance provider for us to get everything taken care of on that end. My wife verified with them that they could complete all work on the car (including the bumper). They assured her that that was accurate and that the car would be able to be picked up that evening.

We received a call from them that they completed the work in the afternoon and went to pick up the car. We went in told us that they had completed everything and collected payment. At no point did they offer an invoice or offer a walk around the vehicle before moving to collect payment. No paperwork was signed off on before the collected payment. When we went to pick up the car we saw that the bumper had not been repaired and only the tensioner and battery had been replaced. When asked about why the bumper had not been replaced, they informed us that they do not offer body work even though we had been told that they could. That claimed that authorization for repair services had been given when they were explicitly told not to proceed with any services if the bumper could not be repaired on site. They said they would check their recorded line to verify this and offered to tow the car to another shop. Geico covered the car being moved to Crown Collision (180 Broadway, Pawtucket, RI 02860).

After the car was moved we were informed that outside of towing services, BTS had not contacted Geico as the had originally stated, and that they should have never worked on the car without doing so. BTS charged us for an inspection even though that would have been covered by insurance. Both Crown Collision and Geico assessed that BTS had engaged in deceptive practices and (pulled one over on us). We went back to BTS and asked for a partial refund on account of this behavior.

BTS refuses to acknowledge that they engaged in deceptive business practices or refund any money. They refuse to acknowledge that they did not contact Geico even though there is not record of said call and we were charged for what would have been insured services. They claim that full authorization was given and refuse to check their recorded line.

Both you and your wife were told on several different occasions that we would assess damage occurred to your vehicle from a collision and we only could repair mechanical issues. Under NO circumstances were you ever told that we could do body work. Matter of fact, just coming into my business you would know that we aren’t a body shop but a tire and service center. Secondly, it is evident with the estimate your wife agreed to which entailed a battery, belt tensioner, and rear end suspension evaluation which resulted in a $760 balance. Another confusing area is why you expected the mechanical work which was not part of the accident be included with an insurance claim. The mechanical repairs were completely separate from the bumper incident.
However, our customer service is extremely important and we strive to help all of our customers.  With that being said, your car was driven by 2 of my employees to Crown Collision to handle the body work aspect since your wife was uncomfortable in driving it herself. Once they arrived, they were told they had to remain there until Crown received written authorization from the owners. They remained until Crown received the authorization. This was service time we gave you without any consideration.
Lastly, we have in fact reviewed all correspondence between you, your wife and our service manager. We are confident you were never given any false information regarding your vehicle, and the work we were able to complete. We pride ourselves on complete and accurate estimates, repairs, and billing for our customers. We wouldn’t accept anything less than an honest conversation about what the customer’s expectations are and how we can meet those expectations. Unfortunately, our business experience with you didn’t meet anyone’s expectations.

Trustworthy
BTS Tire is a reliable business for oil changes, inspections, and tire repair/replacement. They are honest and fair. I feel comfortable knowing my car is in their hands.
