Feel Ripped Off
I was a loyal customers for years, then when the new owners took over I shopped around, until returning over the last year or two. Had to have two different repairs this sumner, the first was expensive (around $1600) and both took much longer than I was told they would, but things happen. But the second was a simple muffler replacement. When I scheduled the appointment I was told the muffler was roughly $370 and the labor would make the total $578. Seemed expensive but what can you do but trust what you’re being told. After the repairs were completed I mentioned it a friend who agreed it was expensive and we looked up the muffler online. An average of $150. I was confused, I knew mechanics marked up parts but it’s usually around 20-60%. I called back and was told “that’s what we paid” and that the part was purchased at O’Reilys. So I called them after and asked and they said it had cost around $160. I called Bob’s again hey denied having said “that’s what we paid”, but couldn’t really explain it and mentioned an few times “there were gaskets too”, until I was basically told that that’s how they make their money.

So I paid $378 for something you all paid $160 for. Thats a 125% markup. That’s ripping off a customer. I could have gone and bought the muffler myself, paid the extra $50 labor fee and still saved $200. It makes me seriously question my $1600 repairs and how much I was upcharged on those parts.

I was loyal to Bob’s for years because I always felt I could trust them and they never gave me any reason not to. I recommended them to everyone I knew. I understand a business needs to make money, but not at the expense of their customers who also have financial responsibilities.

That was my last visit and I won’t be coming back and will not longer be recommending your business.
